OMMS September 30 Daily Announcements

Due to our new staggered dismissal process, carpool flow, and increased traffic, if you need to check your student out of school prior to dismissal, please plan to check them out NO LATER than 2:35 pm.

Due to considerable traffic on 119, please make plans to arrive no earlier than 7:15 am.  Students may not be dropped off until 7:15 am.

School picture day will be Thursday, October 1st for remote learners.  Information has been sent via Schoology to remote students.

Students should bring their personal or school issued device to school with them everyday. Devices should be fully charged before arriving to school.

Enrolling in Publix Partners is an easy way to support OMMS!  See the attached information!

Spirit week is October 5th-8th.  Students and faculty are encouraged to participate in the following dress up days:  Monday – Beach Day; Tuesday – Disney Day; Wednesday – Camo Day; Thursday – Spirit Day

7th and 8th grade students that are interested in signing up for wrestling, please see Coach Civils, Coach Hackbarth, Coach Binkley, Coach Mobley, or Coach White to sign up.  If there are any 6th graders that would like to be a team manager please see Coach White in A-8.  2019/2020 Dual wrestling record 36-1. 2nd place Team Finish in Metro.  3 individual Metro champions.

Neck buffs have arrived!  Neck buffs and t-shirts, from the Athletic Booster sale in August, may be picked up by parents in the OMMS front office.  Please make every effort to come by and pick up your items.

Any 7th or 8th grader interested in joining the OMHS Swim Team this year needs to contact Chris Dean at OMHS by emailing cdean@shelbyed.org.

Tryouts for the 2020-21 OMMS Baseball Team will be held October 22-25 at Oak Mountain High School. Players interested in trying out should sign up with Coach Renfro (Room A-18) or complete the signup form on the baseball blog. (https://podcasts.shelbyed.k12.al.us/omms-baseball/). All students must have all paperwork 100% completed in DragonFly Max before they are eligible to tryout.

7th and 8th-grade girls interested in trying out for the Softball should sign up with Coach Brown (D-9) or Coach Salmon (D4).  Tryouts are October 19th & 20th.  The Google form must be filled out, and all requirements must be met on DragonFly by October 15th – ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS.  All information is on the softball blog.  6th Grade girls interested in being a manager need to fill out the Google form.

ALL parents/guardians of  traditional GRC students (6-8) should have received an email regarding GEP meetings for this year.  Please respond as soon as possible or contact your student’s teacher if you did not receive this email.

Students who ride bus 10-12 will report to the cafeteria at dismissal this afternoon and will depart school around 3:30 today.

Our Choral Department is collecting gently worn shoes as a fundraiser and would love your help. Clean out your closets, ask friends and family. You can drop them off at Heardmont Park on Sunday, September 27th from 3-5 near the stadium with a few of our choir moms. Or you can email ommschoirfundraising@gmail.com to arrange a pickup. (Please do not bring any shoes to the school.)

OMMS First Priority will host “See You at the Pole” tomorrow morning at 7:20am at the football field flag pole.  Students will report to their first period class before going to the field.

Congratulations to the boys cross country team for winning the Oak Mountain invitational!  Individual recognition goes to Whitt K, Alex T, Angel S, Ben B, Cameron A, Rachael W, and Lucy Mc. for top 15 finishes in their divisions.
