OMMS October 6 Daily Announcements

Please remember that if you are a morning car rider and arrive when there are 2 lines of cars, you must wait for the whistle before you dismiss from your car.

Tuesday morning detention/Wednesday morning make up detention procedures:  parents, please arrive slightly before 7:00am and park in the front parking lot of the school and wait with your student in the car.  Please do not enter the carpool line.  At 7:00am a school official will come outside to the parking area to retrieve the students.  At this time, students may exit vehicles and enter the building with the teacher.   

Cross Country members are to check in with Advisory teachers and dismiss at 2:25 for the Shelby County Championship.  All runners will meet on the gym hall.  Good luck to our XC teams today!

Students that ride bus 10-12 AND 09-35 will report to C-hall west at dismissal today.

It’s SGA Election Day!  If you did not get a chance to vote during school today, please visit the SGA Blog (Google OMMS SGA Blog) and cast your vote for Grade Level Representatives and Officers.  Online voting will close at 5:00pm today and results will be posted on the SGA Blog around 6:00pm tonight.  There is a mandatory OFFICER meeting tomorrow morning at 7:20am in A17 and all newly elected Officers and Representatives will meet during advisory on Wednesday in the Cafeteria.  https://podcasts.shelbyed.k12.al.us/omms-sga

The OMMS Library will be hosting a Follett Book Fair October 16th-23rd. Traditional students will be visiting the fair with their ELA class. OMMS October 5 Daily Announcements

Students that ride bus 10-01 will ride bus 03-08 at dismissal today.

The SGA Officers Campaign Video for tomorrow’s election can be found on the SGA blog. Students are asked to watch the videos, as well as pay close attention to the posters around the school today so that you will be able to make an informed decision when choosing the new SGA representatives and officers.

You do not want to carry a device in your bookbag in such a way that it could bend or have something press against it so the screen could be damaged. We suggest you place your device in your backpack between two sturdy notebooks to provide additional protection.

OMMS October 2 Daily Announcements

Due to our new staggered dismissal process, carpool flow, and increased traffic, if you need to check your student out of school prior to dismissal, please plan to check them out NO LATER than 2:35 pm.

Students that are car riders, when you arrive in the morning, if there are two drop off lines, please wait to exit your car until you hear the whistle.

Those students who are running for an SGA position should visit the SGA blog to verify that their name is on the ballot list and that it is spelled correctly.  If you see a problem, please email Mrs. Higginbotham. https://podcasts.shelbyed.k12.al.us/omms-sga/2020/10/01/students-running-for-sga/

Students should bring their personal or school issued device to school with them everyday. Devices should be fully charged before arriving to school.

7th and 8th grade students that are interested in signing up for wrestling, please see Coach Civils, Coach Hackbarth, Coach Binkley, Coach Mobley, or Coach White to sign up.  If there are any 6th graders that would like to be a team manager please see Coach White in A-8.  2019/2020 Dual wrestling record 36-1. 2nd place Team Finish in Metro.  3 individual Metro champions.

Neck buffs have arrived!  Neck buffs and t-shirts, from the Athletic Booster sale in August, may be picked up by parents in the OMMS front office.  Please make every effort to come by and pick up your items.

Tryouts for the 2020-21 OMMS Baseball Team will be held October 22-25 at Oak Mountain High School. Players interested in trying out should sign up with Coach Renfro (Room A-18) or complete the signup form on the baseball blog. (https://podcasts.shelbyed.k12.al.us/omms-baseball/). All students must have all paperwork 100% completed in DragonFly Max before they are eligible to tryout.

7th and 8th-grade girls interested in trying out for the Softball should sign up with Coach Brown (D-9) or Coach Salmon (D4).  Tryouts are October 19th & 20th.  The Google form must be filled out, and all requirements must be met on DragonFly by October 15th – ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS.  All information is on the softball blog.  6th Grade girls interested in being a manager need to fill out the Google form.

OMMS October 1 Daily Announcements
