OMMS is very excited that BOTH the OMHS Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys Basketball teams have made it to the Sweet 16 round in the Basketball State Championships. Both games will be played BACK TO BACK this Thursday, February 17th at Wallace State Community College 801 Main St NW Hanceville, AL 35077. The Varsity Girls will play Bob Jones High School at 12:00pm and the Varsity Boys will play Austin High School at 1:30pm.
Please note that this will be an excused absence as long as a parent note is turned in within 3 days of the absence. The parent note MUST be turned in to the school by FEB. 22 stating that you gave your student permission to attend the basketball game. All notes must have a parent signature. Tickets are sold on GoFan.co. Please search AHSAA (AL), then Thursday Feb. 17 at Wallace State, Northwest Regional Basketball Day 1.

Physical Day: We are excited to be able to participate in Physical Day this year on February 25th at OMHS. A physical is required for any student who wishes to participate on an athletic team and must be completed annually. Please see the attachment for additional information and requirements.
All 7th grade ELA students need to have their very own copy of THE PIGMAN by Paul Zindel in class by Monday, March 14th. Make plans NOW to purchase this novel so you can come to class prepared accordingly! This will also be announced daily in class beginning today.
8th Grade Parents! The yearbook staff is working on a very special memories page for the yearbook. In order to complete the page, we need your 8th grader’s baby picture as soon as possible! If you would like to share a baby photo of your child, please send it to our yearbook co-sponsor, Scott McIndoe at smcindoe@shelbyed.org. Be sure to include your student’s name with the photo.Please be sure to send a photo by February 28th! We are super excited about this and can’t wait to show you the final result! Cheer tryout packets were distributed for all girls who signed up. Please look through packets and start completing all DragonFly documents. Deadline for all DragonFly forms, including a new physical, is Friday, March 4th. No exceptions! Paper forms found in packet must be signed and returned to Coach Chartrand in D-5 by Friday, March 4th.
Phase I will meet on February 22nd until 4:15 and students should bring 3 hygiene items that we will use to create hygiene bags for Vineyard Family Services.
Coding Club students will meet today in Mrs. Carter’s room D2, from 3 – 4:30 pm. Check your email for reminders.

Current 6th and 7th grade girls that want to try out for the 2022 volleyball teams need to complete all requirements found on the OMMS Volleyball Website and sign up in Coach Gunnels’s room A-21. Requirements must be met by March 2nd – NO EXCEPTIONS. Tryouts will be held March 7-10 at OMMS.
