May 9th Announcements

Emoji OMMS is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week May 8th – 12th, in conjunction with National Teacher Appreciation Week.

Emoji We would love for your kiddos to recognize our teachers on the corresponding days with any gesture, like a thank you note! (see attached flyer)

Emoji The PTO is also honoring our teachers and staff with daily treats. (see attachment)

OMMS PTO Pre-Packaged School Supply Sale information attached.

JUNA: Any 6th or 7th grader interested in being a part of the JUNA (Junior United Nations Assembly) team can pick up an application in room A17.  Completed applications are due by Friday, May 12th.

Eagle Ambassadors:  Students interviewing for eagle ambassadors tomorrow should plan to stay after school and meet in B-10. You will have about 15 minutes to change clothing if you would like to. You may drop off any clothing to B-10 tomorrow morning if needed.

Yearbooks! Online ordering for yearbooks through Jostens is now closed. Any remaining yearbooks will be available on May 19th on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you would like to purchase one on that date, please send $50.00 (check or cash – checks made out to OMMS) on May 19th. Students will pick up their yearbooks that day during their PE class. Phase 1: will meet Thursday, May 11th after school. Students will ride a bus to Oak Mountain High School to work on a project. Parents MUST send in a signed permission slip to Mr. Norris by Wednesday, May 10th in order for students to attend. Parents will pick students up at 4:30 at OMHS that afternoon.

OMMS Choir: The OMMS Eagle Extravaganza will be Saturday, May 20 at 7pm in the OMHS Performing Arts Center. Be entertained by soloists, dancers, comedy routines, and instrumentalists! Purchase tickets here: https://gofan.co/app/events/973287?schoolId=AL67656

OMMS Choir:Please join us for the Spring Choir Concert on Thursday, May 11 at 7pm at Metropolitan Church.

SGA:  will meet tomorrow morning at 7:20am in room C-20.

Sports Information:

Cross Country Sign-Ups:  Any current 6th or 7th grader interested in running cross country for the Fall needs to complete this Google Form https://forms.gle/pdnQbXkxvJVMcTcM7 (the form can also be found on XC website) and make sure to have their DragonFly profile 100% complete prior to evals on May 10th. See Coach Chumbley (Room C-19) for more details. 

OMHS Baseball:  Rising 9th graders who are interested in trying out for OMHS baseball next season need to complete the Google form signup.  OMHS Baseball Tryout Signup Form

Community information:

Girls Can:  There are a few more spots for the Girls Can camp held June 5-7 for girls currently in 8th – 10th grade.  The camp is designed to expose girls to numerous careers in the construction industry.  The girls will also learn how to safely use power tools to create a few projects.  Deadline to sign up has been extended to Wednesday, May 10.  The link to register is bit.ly/Girls-Can-Camp-23
