Helena Thespian Troupe #8105 is sponsoring a FIFA 17 Team Soccer Tournament at Press Start in Alabaster on Oct. 16. Contestants will be asked to pay $15 each and the winner will receive a trophy amongst other possible prizes recognizing them as the esports athlete they are. Arrive by 12:30 to be ready for the games to start at 1. See you there!
After two days of watching talented students audition, the following is the cast list for the Fall play. If you were not cast, this is not an indictment against you as there were many elements to consider in casting and each show has different needs.

Auditions for the Fall Play will be August 22-24 in the auditorium after school until 5:30. There will be a meeting on Wednesday August 17 after school for auditionees to learn more about the audition process and what will be expected of them. If you miss the meeting, please contact Mr. Casey for more information.
Troupe 8105 from Helena High School sent their first performer to the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln-Nebraska in the form of Ashli F. While there, Ashli attended a week’s worth of performances, workshops, and networking events. She also competed in the Monologue category where she had to introduce and perform 2 monologues in no more than 3 minutes. In a category that contained over 100 different performers from across the country, Ashli was chosen as 1 of 3 to perform her monologue performance for the entire festival as an example of a superior performance at the Individual Event Showcase which is the highest honor a festival participant can receive! We are proud to have Ashli in our troupe and representing us to the theatrical world as the young professional she is. Below is a picture of her performance for the entire festival.
On March 2, the Advanced Theater students at Helena High School visited the Helena Intermediate School and Helena Elementary School. Theater III students had adapted several Seuss books into short plays, cast them, and directed them with Theater II students. These were created to celebrate Seuss Day and be a part of such a literary celebration. Below are pictures from our trip of youthful glee and literacy.
This 3rd 9 weeks we have been blessed to have been visited by multiple college professors who have worked with our students. Dan Laroque from Auburn, Dennis McLernon from UAB, and Alan Litsey from BSC all came and worked with our actors on different acting skills. Even Theater Tech received a visitor in the form of Kyle Moore from Montevallo as he explained the future importance of 3D printers to the world of Theater. Today the Theater I students performed self written and directed Morality plays. These were fantastic to watch. Below are several pictures from their performances. 
Due to the impending storms, rehearsal for Music Man is canceled today (2/2/16) and everyone is encouraged to go home and bunker down and be safe. See you Monday!

The first cast meeting is tomorrow after school where we will hand out scripts and schedules and go over all pertinent information. There will be a 5-5:30 Parent meeting tomorrow night immediately following the student meeting. See you tomorrow!
Auditions will be Wednesday from 3:30-5 PM in the auditorium. Students will be allowed to leave by pickup as soon as it is over. They may not walk home as they should be safe. The packet below details the expectations and the audition process.
