Oak Mountain Middle School is Hosting a Battle of the Classes for the most Coupons for Classrooms Book Sales.  The grade that sells the Most Coupon Books will win a Slushy & Game Party.  Contest runs Wednesday, January 30th – Friday, February 8th. (flyer attached)

Local company, Southern Post, is hosting it’s 2nd Annual “Winter Soiree” at Inverness Country Club February 23, 2019. Enjoy a night out with the Oak Mountain Community and give back to your school at the same time.  100% of the proceeds go to Oak Mountain Middle Schools PTO.  The event begins at 6:30 and includes dinner by Chef Daniel Mitchell and live music by Chase Evan Wilson.  A full cash bar will be available for the night as well.  Visit www.SouthernPostAlabama.com to purchase tickets.  Last year was a huge success and we look forward to an even better year in 2019!  (flyer attached)

As Valentines Day approaches, let’s show the teachers some LOVE and help them restock their classroom during a Classroom Supply Drive starting Monday, January 28 and ending Monday, February 4.  We are asking that 6th graders send in a bottle(s) of hand sanitizer, 7th graders send in a box(es) of Kleenex, and 8th graders send in a roll(s) of paper towels.  Academic Partners will accumulate all the items, sort them, and distribute them to all classroom teachers (core and electives).  Please consider donating items and have them delivered to the front office by Monday, February 4. Thanks for supporting our teachers and showing them the LOVE!!!!

Parents of rising 9th graders, please plan to meet with the OMHS Counseling department on Monday, February 4th.  Morning session, at OMHS PAC, beginning at 9am, or evening session, at OMMS cafeteria, beginning at 6pm.     

SGA members should plan to meet Friday morning at 7:20am in Mr. Wood’s room (A-6).

Tuesday, February 5th-on this date, Zoe’s Kitchen will donate 25% of all proceeds from food sales to the family of Birmingham Police Sergeant Wytasha Carter. Sergeant Carter was killed in the line of duty while protecting and serving, and his family are members of our OM community. Participating locations include, Brook Highland, Patton Creek, Vestavia, Soho, Crestline, Summit, Trussville, and Downtown Birmingham. (flyer attached)

Yearbook photos-Science club members and Media Center aides will have yearbook photos taken today during advisory. Check in for attendance, and then report to the cafeteria.

Physical Day physicals will be returned to student-athletes who participated during PE classes on Monday. Please follow the directions on the attached flier to create a DragonFly Max account, and upload your child’s physical to DragonFly Max. Indicate the sport(s) that your child will tryout for in the spring and/or will participate in for the 2019-2020 school year. You can go ahead and complete all of the requirements now, but please know that you will have to update the Concussion Form and Student-Release Form for the 2019-2020 school year once released by the AHSAA, which typically happens in July.

SPORTS NEWS GO EAGLES!!!!

Track and Field Tryouts will be February 5-7 from 3 to 4:30. It will be held here and we will meet at the track behind the school. Please make sure to complete the DragonFly MAX requirements and see the Track and Field Blog Track and Field Blog for any forms needed!

The 7th grade came back from down 10 last night to beat Homewood 45-39 in regulation. The 7th grade will host Mountain Brook at home tonight. Tip-off is at 5:15! We need everyone to come out and show your support!

The 8th graders came back from down ten late in the third quarter, and after a three by Matthew Heiberger to force the game into overtime the Eagle won 28-27. The 8th graders will play Mountain Brook tonight at 4:00 pm at Clay Chalkville MS.
