All 6th and 7th grade girls trying out for cheerleading are reminded that tomorrow is the deadline to submit paperwork and money to be eligible for tryouts. This includes the cheer packet and everyone trying out must be 100% on DragonFly Max for 2019-2020 by 8:00 on Friday. Parents should not mark ‘My School Will Complete This Requirement’. All students that have permission to stay and transportation previously planned for the dodge ball tournament will dismiss at 3:00 and go to the gym.  Admission is free.  All students must have transportation arranged to be picked up at 4:00 outside the gym.  Students may not make phone calls to arrange transportation.  If you do not have previously planned transportation you should go home on the bus or in car rider line at 3:00 dismissal.

If any 8th graders would like a Broadcast Application for OMHS, please stop by Ms. Salmon’s room (D4). Also if you have already picked one up, please return it to Ms. Salmon as soon as possible. 

Cheer tryout packets and payments are due February 28, 2020.

Any 8th Grader interested in running for a 9th grade SGA officer or representative position should plan to pick up an application in A17.  All applications are due by Friday, February 28th.

The SGA dodgeball game is tomorrow after school until 4:00. Everyone is welcome to attend. Parents should pick up at 4:00pm. SGA members will stay until 4:15pm. 

The mandatory meeting for any student interested in trying out for the OMHS Color Guard, Dance Team, or Majorettes will be Thursday, February 27th at 6:00pm in the OMHS Band Room. 

Interested students need to attend with a parent. If you have any questions about trying out, please email ksheffield@shelbyed.org

Auditions for show choir will be Friday, March 6. Please visit the choir website (www.ommschoir.com) for more information and to sign up for an audition time. Students may also talk to Mrs. Graddy if they have questions. 

Book Olympiad practices Tuesday/Thursday in C4 from 3-4 p.m. Parents pick up at door #4. 

Due to limited interest at this time, dance try-outs have been postponed to April 13-17.  Please see Mrs. Bishop with any questions.

Debate team practice will move to Wednesday this week. Please inform Mrs. Bolt if you will not be attending.

No 6^th grade Math team practice Thursday, Feb. 20^th due to the dodgeball game! Instead, we will practice next Tuesday (2-25-20) and Thursday (2-27-20) after school: 3:05 – 4:10 p.m.  Please remember to wear your team shirt to practice Tuesday for the team photo!

Science Club will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 25^th from 3:00-4:30.

Academic Partners would like to invite you to their next meeting on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 8:15 a.m. at OMMS.  Please come join us as we begin planning for the registration prepackaged school supply sale.  We will be electing officers for the next school year at our April meeting.  If you are interested in being more involved and in possibly taking on a leadership role, please come see what we are about and learn about the opportunities that are available.

OMMS PTO is looking for businesses to sponsor our school!  For $250, your company logo will be featured on the OMMS Life Facebook page (which has over 900 followers!) all year long and your company information will be distributed in a school-wide list serve email.  Our partnership allows for extremely targeted advertising to almost 1,100 students and their families!  Please turn in the attached form and your donation to the front office to show your support of OMMS students and teachers!

Registration for the Oak Mountain High School Color Run is now open at www.oakmountaincolorrun.com. The date is March 7 at Oak Mountain State Park. All proceeds will benefit the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at UAB. Help us pass the $100,000 mark raised by supporting and signing up this year!

There will be a meeting on Thursday, Feb 20th at 6pm for those interested in trying out for cheerleading at OMHS.  At least one parent must attend the meeting.  Please contact Bridgit Watkins (bwatkins@shelbyed.org) with any questions prior to the meeting.
