March 3rd Announcements

Tomorrow, March 4th, is the last day to fill out the course request Google Form for both rising 7th and rising 8th graders. The form will be turned off at 3:00 pm. 

ATTENTION 6th GRADE PARENTS/GUARDIANS:  Below is the link to complete the Google Form for your student’s 7th grade course requests for the 2022-2023 school year. Course requests are not guaranteed. All courses are filled based on staffing for the school year and are subject to change. Please complete this form by Friday, March 4th at 3 pm. Coding Club will meet on 3/16 and 3/23 from 3-4 pm this month. Please check your email for updates.

During school hours on March 18th, the entire 8th grade class and teachers have an exciting opportunity to travel to OMHS to view their production of Little Women and learn about the theater program. Students will miss class periods 1-4. If your student will need to check out during this time, please have the student remain at OMMS. 8th gradersĀ will be reading Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card in their science class. If you would like to order a book through the school, you can find a link on the OMMS website underĀ OMMS Class Donation/Fee. ThenĀ click on your child’s science teacher’s name… Brown, Chumbley or Turpen. Deadline is March 18th.

All girls trying out for cheerleadingĀ are reminded that all paperwork and DragonFly requirements are due Friday, Mar. 4th. Candidates that have not paid or have incomplete paperwork will not be eligible for tryouts.

Any student interested in auditioning for theĀ ā€œElevationā€ Show ChoirĀ needs to go to the choir website (www.ommschoir.com) to access the audition information and resources. If you have any questions, please email or go talk to Mrs. Graddy.

Any 7th-grade student interested in being a Library Aide should pick up an application in the library. Applications are due on March 8th.

All 7th grade ELA students (not including Mrs. Rich’s classes) need to have their very own copy of THE PIGMAN by Paul Zindel in class by Monday, March 14th. Make plans NOW to purchase this novel so you can come to class prepared accordingly! This will also be announced daily in class beginning today.

6th and 7th grade students who are interested in trying out for winter guard but didn’t attend the interest meeting need to come by Ms. Marzullo’s room (G-6) to get an application packet.  The clinic fee and paperwork are due by March 25th. Students interested in checking out a flag can come by Ms. Marzullo’s room during advisory. Clinics will take place April 4th-6th in the OMMS gym from 3:30-5:30. Tryouts will take place on April 7th in the OMHS band room at 3:30. Clinics are required to try out. 

Attention 7th and 8th grade girls!  If you are interested in Engineering, or STEM fields in general join Eureka. Attention Parents/Guardians of Girls:  Is your daughter interested in a career in the construction industry? Power-Up: It’s a Mother Daughter Thing is a virtual event that will take place Tuesday, March 8th at 6:00 pm. This virtual event is a continued effort to educate young women on careers in the construction industry as well as encourage young women to explore the construction industry.
