March 7th Announcements

Coding Club will meet on 3/16 and 3/23 from 3-4 pm this month. Please check your email for updates.

JUNA will meet today until 4:30pm.

Cheerleader tryouts for the 2022-23 school year have been postponed. Further details will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.

8th Grade:  The order deadline for the 8th Grade Panoramic Picture has been extended to this Saturday night at midnight. https://www.panophotoinc.com/Orders/Event.aspx?EventID=12153587

6th Grade Math Team:  Today is our mini-tournament with Columbiana Middle School. Please remember to pick up your students at 4:30 PM today in the same location as usual. We will need a little extra time to get the tests graded and winners announced. Please expect information from Ms. Roberts sometime this week about the tournament on the 16th. Keep in mind that we can only take 10 students to the competition, so a list of students who will be able to attend with us this week will be sent.

During school hours on March 18th, the entire 8th grade class and teachers have an exciting opportunity to travel to OMHS to view their production of Little Women and learn about the theater program. Students will miss class periods 1-4. If your student will need to check out during this time, please have the student remain at OMMS. 8th graders will be reading Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card in their science class. If you would like to order a book through the school, you can find a link on the OMMS website under OMMS Class Donation/Fee. Then click on your child’s science teacher’s name… Brown, Chumbley or Turpen. Deadline is March 18th.

2021-2022 Yearbooks are for sale:  Go to balfour.com/yearbooks and search for Oak Mountain Middle School.  

Any student interested in auditioning for the “Elevation” Show Choir needs to go to the choir website (www.ommschoir.com) to access the audition information and resources. If you have any questions, please email or go talk to Mrs. Graddy.

Any 7th-grade student interested in being a Library Aide should pick up an application in the library. Applications are due tomorrow!

All 7th grade ELA students (not including Mrs. Rich’s classes) need to have their very own copy of THE PIGMAN by Paul Zindel in class by Monday, March 14th. Make plans NOW to purchase this novel so you can come to class prepared accordingly! This will also be announced daily in class beginning today.

6th and 7th grade students who are interested in trying out for winter guard but didn’t attend the interest meeting need to come by Ms. Marzullo’s room (G-6) to get an application packet.  The clinic fee and paperwork are due by March 25th. Students interested in checking out a flag can come by Ms. Marzullo’s room during advisory. Clinics will take place April 4th-6th in the OMMS gym from 3:30-5:30. Tryouts will take place on April 7th in the OMHS band room at 3:30. Clinics are required to try out.  

Family and Friends Night will take place Thursday, March 10th at 5:30 in the Oak Mountain High School gym. Come support our majorettes and winter guard team!  

Attention 7th and 8th grade girls!  If you are interested in Engineering, or STEM fields in general join Eureka. Attention Parents/Guardians of Girls:  Is your daughter interested in a career in the construction industry? Power-Up: It’s a Mother Daughter Thing is a virtual event that will take place Tuesday, March 8th at 6:00 pm. This virtual event is a continued effort to educate young women on careers in the construction industry as well as encourage young women to explore the construction industry.
