March 14th Announcements

Students that ride bus 22-09 will ride bus 09-63 today at dismissal.

Coding Club will meet on 3/16 and 3/23 from 3-4 pm this month. Students, please check your email for updates.

Cheerleader tryouts have been rescheduled. Clinic will take place  Tuesday, April 5-Thursday, April 7 from 3:30-5:00. Tryouts are Friday, April 8 from 3:30-until.

The next Phase 1 meeting will be April 11th. Pick up time is 4:00. An email has been sent to Phase 1 students and parents about the meeting. 

Congratulations to the OMMS JUNA teams who represented Cuba and Peru at the JUNA conference last week!  Both teams’ resolutions successfully passed during the General Assembly.  Cuba won Outstanding Presentation and Peru won Best Prepared Nation.  Also congratulations to Mary W. and Savannah H. who both won Outstanding Girl Delegate Honorable Mentions.

JUNA will meet today until 4:00pm.

SGA will meet Wednesday at 7:20 in the media center. 

8th graders will be reading Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card in their science class. If you would like to order a book through the school, you can find a link on the OMMS website under OMMS Class Donation/Fee. Then click on your child’s science teacher’s name… Brown, Chumbley or Turpen. Deadline is March 18th.

2021-2022 Yearbooks are for sale:  Go to balfour.com/yearbooks and search for Oak Mountain Middle School.  

Any student interested in auditioning for the “Elevation” Show Choir needs to go to the choir website (www.ommschoir.com) to access the audition information and resources. If you have any questions, please email or go talk to Mrs. Graddy.

6th and 7th grade students who are interested in trying out for winter guard but didn’t attend the interest meeting need to come by Ms. Marzullo’s room (G-6) to get an application packet.  The clinic fee and paperwork are due by March 25th. Students interested in checking out a flag can come by Ms. Marzullo’s room during advisory. Clinics will take place April 4th-6th at OMMS from 3:30-5:30. Tryouts will take place on April 7th in the OMHS band room at 3:30. Clinics are required to try out.

Students trying out for guard at the middle or high school are invited to attend the optional clinics at Oak Mountain High School to learn flag basics. These clinics are not required for tryouts but are recommended. Optional clinics will take place on March 14th from 3:30-5:30, and March 23rd from 3:30-5:30 in the Oak Mountain High School cafeteria.   

Attention 7th and 8th grade girls!  If you are interested in Engineering, or STEM fields in general join Eureka. It is a teen achievement program full of adventures and scientific exploration.  Summer registration is open for the Eureka program until April 30th!  Fill out the form by going to https://forms.gle/Hs3r4ZyJDTeVLsZt8 you can also reach out to astrickland@girlsinccentral-al.org for more information.
