This week we will begin our unit on DNA. We will take notes from a powerpoint on Monday and Tuesday and complete a doodle notes on Monday. Wednesday students will do a schools PLP lesson on DNA and a nearpod. Thursday we will have a small “pop” quiz on DNA and begin the DNA Dogs Activity that is due Friday. On Friday we will watch Anastasia Dead or Alive and complete the handout on DNA Forensics. Please go to schoology for all powerpoints, slideshows, handouts, and activities.

This week we are studying the process of Meiosis and how it differs from Mitosis. Students will have a quiz on Meiosis on Friday and should study the reading guide we do in class this week as well as play the quizlet game on the nearpod we do in class on Tuesday.

Monday – Today students will complete the nearpod on the intro to the cell cycle. Please enter your last name first and then your first name in this nearpod on the cell cycle.The link to this nearpod is in schoology in this weeks folder.

Tuesday – Today you will complete the hard copy I give you of the reading guide using the textbook pdf file in schoology. Remeber page numbers are at the bottom of each page in this textbook file. When you complete this you will login to flocabulary ( link below. where you have an assignment in Science assigned to you ( like you have done before in English). We will check the reading guide tomorrow and the flocabulary lessons are due Thursday.

Wednesday – Today in class we will go through a power point on the Cell Cycle and check the reading guide from yesterday. Students will act out the cell cycle in class using props.

Thursday – Today students will do the chromosocks lab using tube socks and poster board to act out the stages of the cell cycle. We will play a review game for our quiz tomorrow on the cell cycle.
Friday – Today students will take the Cell Cycle Quiz and will then use the textbook chapter link from Tuesday ( see schoology link) to work on the Mitosis Pick Two Assignment Due Monday.
Monday – Today we will take the Open Note Bellringer DSQ Test – this is 90 gold points and we have gone over the expectations on this since the first day of school. After the test you will complete the Ed Puzzle in schoology in this weeks folder on Cell transport – Amoeba Sisters. We will check the Cell Transport Reading Guide from last Friday tomorrow. Step 1 – Egg Demonstration.
Tuesday – We will go over the Reading Guide from Friday for a grade. We will do Day 1 in the Gummy Bear Osmosis Lab. Each row will be a group and measure and weigh a gummy bears to put in different solutions. We will observe our results and re-measure and weigh the bears again tomorrow and complete the accompanying lab sheet. Day 2 Egg Demonstration.
Wednesday – We will review cell transport and complete Day 2 of the lab and fill in the blanks on the labsheet. See me for the day 2 labsheet. Day 3 Egg Demonstration.
Thursday – End of the nine weeks! Today we will watch Louis Pasteur Video and complete the questions afterward and discuss. See me to get a copy of this handout. Day 4 Egg Demonstration.
Friday – No School Teacher Workday

Monday –Today we worked on a study guide in class and then went over it. Students are to complete the last question ( a 5 sentence discussion question) by Wed. to be graded. We then played a gimkit review game. Cell Test Wednesday! Study all pages in your binder from pgs 7-15
Tuesday – Students will complete a nearpod with review games and a short organelle riddle quiz built into the nearpod. The link will be available in Schoology on Tuesday. Cell Test Tomorrow ! Study all pages in your binder from pgs 7-15
Wednesday –Students will take the Cell Test in class. Classwork after the test to be completed for HW – Cell Review Color By Number Jack-o-Lantern ( See Schoology if you are absent for this handout – I cannot post it here!.) Open Note DSQ Bellringer Test on Monday!
Thursday – Students will complete this nearpod with the teacher ( if you are absent you will use this link to do in student mode Nearpod – Thursday ) and then write the notes into this notesheet on Passive and Active Transport( see schoology for this handout – I cannot post it here! )
Friday –Students will work on the Reading Guide on Cell Transport. This is due Tuesday. Use the pdf file of the textbook chapter to answer these questions on the worksheet I give you in class. ( you can print this out or write the answers on a sheet of notebook paper if you are at home) See schoology for the Cell Textbook Chapter – I cannot post it here!
Open Note DSQ Bellringer Test on Monday! Make sure you have all entries ( in the binder in the front of my room – I do not list online) numbered and both the question and the answer written.
Monday – Students completed a microscope rotation lab today in class. We will go over any stations not visited on Wednesday.
Tuesday – Students will complete a Cell Organelles Nearpod ( see Schoology – Tuesday in this weeks folder for link)
Wednesday – We will go over the microscope lab ( see Schoology on Wed. for the virtual lab answers) and work on “Cell City” together in class.
Thursday – Work on your own Cell Analogy Story and share with the class. Begin “Cell Job Application” ( find handout in Schoology)
Friday – Work on Cell Job Application in class today ( due Monday)!
