Culver's English 11, Honors English 9, and Creative Writing

Hi. Sorry I’ve been absent on this blog lately! We had the speech and debate tournament this week and I’ve been busy getting my team members ready for that.

Tomorrow I will be absent because I caught a cold while at the tournament this weekend.  I left grammar work for you guys to do. We will begin Romeo and Juliet on Tuesday when I get back to school. Be working on your typed short story. Turn in by this Friday. No stories will be taken after this Friday.

Parents: I gave out information about extra credit when the students got their progress reports. Please ask your child about it if their grade is lower than you would like. 🙂

Be nice to the sub on Monday!

Remember to check the No Name Board to find any papers without names on them. One might be yours!

In other news, today is the test and folder check for advanced. Good luck! I had a great time playing the review games with my classes yesterday!

Homework for advanced tonight: Finish chapters 27-29. (We read a lot of this in class, but you need to finish.)

Third period homework: Finish reading chapter 21. We read 20 and most of 21 in class today.

Quiz tomorrow for both advanced and third.

So it’s finally Friday!  On Thursday, I was out and you guys wrote great stories for me that are based on some interesting pictures I found. (At least, the stories look great from briefly looking over them so far…some looked…disturbing…I’m looking at you, KEVIN!)

Take those stories and finish them this weekend. Bring them back on Monday and we will peer edit them.  Soon we will go to the computer lab to type them up.

In TKAM news, advanced needs to read chapters 24-26 this weekend. Third period needs to read 17, 18, and 19, since they did not read chapter 17 when the sub was here like the board and the calendar told them to do…:)

Adv—papers were returned, sorted, and put in classroom portfolio today.  We also reviewed Active Reading 12-21 and questions for 16-19/and 20-21.  Most classes finished reading chapter 22 in class today. Homework if not done.

3rd–read chapter 16. Quiz tomorrow on 15-16.

If you missed today, we went over questions for 16-19 so get with a friend and get caught up tomorrow if you don’t get them from me. We also did an Active Reading sheet for chapters 12-21 (first and sixth need to get this tomorrow).  We also updated the time plotline for TKAM.  Homework is to read chapter 21.

Third period needs to read chapter 15. PLEASE keep up with your reading.  I know you can do it!!!

Today in class we got to have fun with some white boards and some dry erase markers while we reviewed subject-verb agreement in inverted sentences.

If anyone would like to donate some dry erase markers, I would LOVE to have some, as mine are drying out. Thank you!

Homework for advanced is to read chapter 20. Third period read their chapter (14) in class, so no homework other than to make sure you get caught up!
