Meeting today: First, Fifth, Sixth, Eighth

First period:

  • Sign a Chromebook out when you come in.
  • Search for your topic. Research for good claims and counterclaims.Keep track of MLA Works Cited citation information. If I were you,I’d go ahead and open a Google doc to save all of this stuff. 🙂
  • Go to the avl homepage here: Alabama Virtual Library
    •  Click on VIEW ALL RESOURCES
    • Go to Opposing Viewpoints in Context
  • We’ll research for the first hour (8:10 to 9:10) then we will complete workbook pages 267, 268
  • Also all of the “TAKE NOTES” section of the story “The First Seven Years” and “AFTER YOU READ” on page 279

Fifth and Eighth will do what the rest of the students did on Monday.

  1. Bellringer: Write a paragraph about your dreams for yourself and about your parents’ dreams for you. How are they similar? How are they different? Turn in for bronze grade.  We will be reading a new story soon where this topic is addressed.
  2. Discuss/Share what you wrote
  3. Review the workbook pages you did last night. Form teams and tackle the colored butcher paper:   PINK: Reading Check questions, RED: Stop to Reflect questions, and BLUE: Literary Analysis questions

  1. Today we watched this generation gap video (ten minutes). Have fun and watch it if you missed it!

2. Then we discussed generation gap Guess Who/Bring parent pic when they were your age project (completely voluntary).

3. Quick blip of “Everyday Use” video

4. Finally, in the workbook, you are to complete the “Everyday Use” Take Notes section as well as the questions that follow. (Do not do the last question–essential writing.)
