IMG00609Today we did a review activity with clothespins and index cards!  Students also worked on a classwork assignment called “Hey, Boo”. If you are absent today please make that up.

While they worked, students watched the beginning of the classic movie TKAM.

They also took home two worksheets for homework. One is called “What’s in a Name?”  It asks questions about each student’s ancestry. Do not answer anything you don’t feel comfortable with. 🙂

PS: Reason for ancestry talk is because Aunt Alexandria in TKAM is really big on ancestry and “where people came from”.

One website that can help is this one.

Tuesday

booradleyHello!  The drawing included in this post is one artist’s impression of what Boo Radley looked like. Do you think he/she got it right?

Don’t forget, Open House PTA is on this Thursday evening! 6:30. I’m looking forward to meeting all of my students’ parents.

Today in class we read chapter 29 in TKAM, where it is revealed that Boo Radley killed Bob Ewell.  Tonight they are to finish the book. We’ll be doing some review on Wed and Thursday before the test on Friday (chapters 12-31). The folder is also due on Friday.  We will also be viewing the classic movie version of TKAM Thursday and half of Friday.

Right now the Table of Contents for the folder is as follows:

1. Timeline 10/4

2. Ch. 12-13 Questions 10/5

3. Ch. 14-15 Questions 10/5

4. K.W. (copy from classmate if you missed this) 10/12

5. Before You Read 12-21  10/12

6. Responding 12-21  10/12

7. Active Reading 22-31  10/19 (Got today)

Good News and Bad News!

So the bad news is that you will be writing another essay soon (not this week, but the next).  The good news is that it’s about To Kill a Mockingbird and we will be writing the rough draft in class, peer editing in class, and typing it in the computer lab (have it reserved for two days).  I know you are excited.

More good news—here are some pictures from this week. Parents, in these pics, they are in groups coming up with parallels between Mayella Ewell and other characters, like Boo Radley, Tom Robinson, Dill, and Scout Finch.

As usual, Brannan doesn’t look anything but perfectly composed. Christian, well…he looks very excited to be discussing TKAM.

Brigid is leader of the group and takes suggestions from her classmates in sixth period.

Apparently, Chelsea and Hayley didn’t want their countenances on the web.

David, however, has no issue with it. Seventh Period.
