Monday, October 10--Teacher In-service, Columbus Day

Tuesday, October 11

  • I can create a poem based off a character from Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby.
  • I can recognize MLA format rules and understand how to use them.
  1. Bellringer #30:  Page 839  9–11
  2.  Turn in 10 bellringers (bronze)  Will go on next 9 weeks.
  3. Any make ups on test from Thursday? Speak now or forever hold your peace.
  4. Gatsby poem is due tomorrow on Google Classroom. I will show exemplars to get you thinking. (silver grade)
  5. MLA PowerPoint and Notes on Handout (you complete as we review)
  6. Essay on Gatsby:   Options (Gold grade)

Wednesday, October 12

  • I can  identify and cite evidence in the text of The Great Gatsby to back up my claims for a five paragraph literary analysis.
  • I can draw conclusions and develop a logical argument.
  1. Bellringer #31: Page 840 1-4 Writer’s Choice
  2. Type and upload Gatsby poem in class using the Google Chromebooks in class today.
  3. <—–Fill out the img_82212 graphic organizer according to your topic. This is  homework if not done in class. Your claims must be in the form of a sentence.

Thursday, October 13

  • I can revise a rough draft and create a final draft with feedback from my peers and teacher.

Friday, October 14–report card day

  2. Last day to work on essay in class. (Will extend if necessary.)
  3. If you get done early, check your work and look over the TOC to see if you need anything. Notebook test coming next week. (Gold grade) Test will be on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

YOU WILL NEED YOUR LIT BOOK STARTING MONDAY, OCT 17

We will be reading an excerpt from John Hersey’s “Hiroshima” and the poem by Jarrell called “Death of the Ball Turret Gunner.”
