Test Day/Folder Check Day

You guys took your 1-11 TKAM/benchmark, turned in your Week seven and eight DRP, and turned in your folders. Grades are being put in iNow as fast as I can get them entered.  Homework is to read chapter 12 in TKAM and finish the Parallel Structure worksheet that Mrs. McLendon gave you/the one you started in class.

Here’s a random pic of a pig in rainboots. Have a great weekend.

Game on.

So today Mrs. McLendon did the Jeopardy review game with you guys. Some classes behaved and had a great time while some, well, while some disappointed us with their behavior.

Test on chapters 1-11 tomorrow. Folders due. Bring TKAM to class so you can start reading if you get done early.

Over and out.

It was great seeing so many parents at Open House last night. Thank you for coming!

Advanced English 9: Today the students and I reviewed the questions for the different chapters and I quizzed them on chapter 11, which we started in class and they had to finish yesterday on their own.  I also gave them time to work on their folder and define words. Folders are due Friday. Test Friday as well.

Reg. 9: In second we read chapter 10 and started chapter 11. I made them say after me “I WILL FINISH CHAPTER 11 TONIGHT!”  Please make sure they do! 🙂  Test and folder due on Friday. We need the same thing in 8th period.

Have a great day.

Quiz code word for chapter 11 quiz:  alaska

If someone asks you for it and they aren’t checking the blog, come up with your own code word or tell them “The code word is Nancy Drew” and that way I will know who is asking around instead of checking the blog. 🙂

Periods 1,4,5,6: Today the students did the Friday DRP (Week 7), took a multiple choice quiz on chapters 1-8 on To Kill a Mockingbird, then worked on their questions and vocabulary for the chapters. They also got a head start on reading chapter 9. Homework is to finish chapter 9.

Period 2, 8: Students did Daily Reading Practice, Week 7, Friday, then second period  read chapter 7 in class. Please read chapter 8 at home (second period only).  Eighth read chapter six and seven  in class with the audio version reading it aloud (I use this with every class for the auditory learners). Homework is to get folder caught up and questions/vocabuary done.

Today in first period, we passed out graded work and put them in our stay-in-the-classroom portfolios, then we read/listened to Chapter 8 of To Kill a Mockingbird.

In second period, after portfolios and papers were handed out, we listened to and read Chapter six of To Kill a Mockingbird.

In fourth and fifth period, we did the same as first period.  Time was also given to work on questions/vocabulary from the sheets I had already given out.

In sixth period, we took the quiz on chapter six and seven, so anyone absent needs to make that up asap. Papers were also handed out and put in portfolios. The power went out and that was fun…not.  It put us behind in reading. You need to finish chapter 8 in TKAM tonight.

8th period–we finally took the quiz on chapters 2-4.  Homework is to read chapter five in TKAM.

For all periods except second and eighth, there will be a multiple choice quiz on chapters 1-8 tomorrow. The code word for the extra point is ALTOID.

Today we did the Daily Reading Practice, Week 4.

Then we finished reviewing chapters we’ve read with the foldable (goes in your folder as number 8)

Since we were reminded of the time period (setting) yesterday, today we were reminded of the location of the novel. I gave out blank maps of Alabama and the students located where Mobile, Montgomery, Monroeville, Selma, Meridian (MS), etc. are (all locations in the novel).  #10 in your folder

Some classes got the chapter six questions/vocab sheet.

Homework is still for you to catch up on your reading.

Enjoy Powder Puff football/kickball tonight.

Today in class we reviewed the questions in your folder. Hopefully you all wrote down the answers if you didn’t already have them.  We also did the sheet called “Going Back in Time” and took notes from my Powerpoint presentation related to the time period 1929-1939. If you were absent, please get these from someone and look over them.

Tomorrow we will complete the sheet we started at the end of class—the one where you folded a sheet of paper three times and ended up with 8 boxes.  Go ahead and label them as chapters 1-8. Bring back in tomorrow and we’ll fill them up with summary information from the chapters.

Happy Decades Day! (It’s Homecoming Week, parents.) I feel weird sitting here with my 80s hair.

No homework other than catching up with your reading.
