This fall, The University of Alabama added Competitive Academic Scholarships to support students who apply as test optional as well as students who submit our scholarship application.
We review all submitted scholarship applications along with a studentās core GPA for our Competitive Academic Scholarships. The best scholarship applicants are placed into three tiers who are then eligible for competitive academic awards.

To better serve our admitted students and their families, we will begin notifying our UA Competitive Academic Scholarship recipients on December 15, with subsequent release dates in February and March.
- The first round is December 15 for applications submitted by October 31.
- The second round occurs February 1 for applications submitted by December 31.
- The third round happens the first week of March, which is when all students receive their consolidated offer letters based on scholarship applications submitted by January 15.
Because several factors go into a studentās competitive award, it will not be uncommon for students that submit their scholarship application at an earlier date to receive a later notification. Please rest assured, even if your student does not receive notification for an early round, their scholarship application will roll to the next round for further review.
For students who have been admitted but not completed a scholarship application, we ask you strongly encourage your students to submit that by January 15, 2021.
Should you have any questions, we welcome you to reach out to our scholarshipās office at scholarships@ua.edu, call 800-933-BAMA (2262) and press option #5, or visit our Q&A page (link below).
