Shelton State Community College Scholarships

The Shelton State Community College Foundation provides a multitude of scholarship opportunities.  These scholarship opportunities have varying criteria.  Applicants may apply for multiple scholarships. Some scholarships are designated to specific high schools in the Shelton State service area.
 
Applicants are encouraged to review individual scholarship requirements prior to completing the application.  All documentation must be uploaded at the time of application.

Josh Turner Scholarship Fund for the Arts

Josh Turner Scholarship Fund for the Arts

This scholarship fund is a part of the CFMT General Scholarship Application that is open annually from December 1st to February 1st.
Eligibility: Those eligible to apply must be high school seniors from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee wishing to enter the music business or undertake a career in the arts. It is intended to benefit students primarily from rural areas, and applicants must be focusing on a career that will introduce them to various opportunities in the music business or some discipline of the arts. Preference will be given to students from rural high schools in South Carolina.

CollegeCounts Scholarship

The CollegeCounts Scholarship can provide funding assistance to Alabama high school students who demonstrate a financial need and are planning to attend an Alabama college.Eligibility to Apply
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:

  • Be a high school senior or first-time college freshman beginning in fall 2025
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be an Alabama resident
  • Planning to enroll in an Alabama eligible educational institution in fall 2025
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.75
  • Have an ACT score of 29 or BELOW (scores of 30 or higher are NOT eligible)
    (applicants attending a two-year school will not be required to submit ACT scores)

Award Details
Awards of $4,000 for four-year college enrollees and $2,000 for two-year college enrollees.
Award is one-time, non-renewable and granted on a semester basis in the first academic year.Application Period

ēCO Credit Union “A.L. Bratcher” College Scholarship

The A.L. Bratcher College Scholarship is for high school seniors who will be enrolled or plan to be enrolled in an undergraduate course of study during the 2025-2026 academic school year at an accredited 2- or 4- year college, university, or vocation-technical college in the United States. 

To continue recognizing the work and dedication of safe, sound, member-first financial institutions by Rev. Bratcher, we will be awarding two high school seniors a $2,500 scholarship each for their upcoming undergraduate school expenses.  We would like to invite all high school counselors to encourage their high school seniors to apply for our scholarship. Applications are available on ēCO’s website: www.ecocu.org. Applications are due no later than March 14, 2025.
