Smith Scholarship

The Smith Scholarship Foundation will begin accepting on-line Applications
on October 1, 2019 for the Smith Scholarship Program. The Smith
Scholarship Foundation Program is an Accountability Scholarship Program
providing assistance to High School Seniors who have “given back” to their
community through volunteer activities or by caring for family while
overcoming financial and personal challenges.

The SSF Programs provide up to $15,000 a year in financial assistance plus
opportunities for study abroad, professional training through its Internship
Program as well as valuable assistance from Mentors who counsel and
assist students with academic, personal and professional obstacles. All
assistance is subject to strict compliance with SSF Guidelines. SSF is a last
dollar supplemental scholarship.

The Road to College

Homewood Public Library, Tuesday, August 27th, at 6 p.m.

The Homewood Public Library is excited to announce the return that The Road to College on Tuesday, August 27, at 6 p.m. This program is geared towards helping parents and teens who are overwhelmed with the college application process. Jordan Crenshaw, an admissions counselor from UAB, will present on some key topics that will help teens and their parents get on the right track for college. How many times to take the ACT? How to apply for financial aid? What do you do after you have applied to college? These stressful questions, plus more, can all be answered at the Road to College!

 After the presentations, families will have the opportunity to visit representatives from various institutions. Over 15 colleges and universities will be represented, including Alabama/UA Early College, Auburn, UAB, UAH, Troy, Jeff State Community College, Samford University, Birmingham-Southern College, Montevallo, and more!

NACAC College Fair

Auburn Important Dates and Deadlines

Below are dates and deadlines for students applying to Auburn Fall 2020.

Early Action decisions will include acceptances, defers and denials.  Deferred students will have an opportunity to submit additional information by the regular application deadline.  Examples include an updated high school transcript with fall grades, updated test scores, recommendation letter from a teacher or counselor focusing on the applicant’s academic abilities. 

A completed admissions application file includes: On-line admissions application, application fee, an official high school transcript and official ACT or SAT scores. The fall 2020 admissions application is on our AU admissions website.  It will include a required essay (500 words) and two short answer prompts (250 words each).  Essay and short answer prompts will be released on August 15.  Applicants will submit an official high school transcript and official ACT or SAT test scores.  Official test scores are sent directly from the ACT or College Board.  The admissions application fee is $50.  Students may submit an application fee waiver to cover that cost (ACT, SAT or NACAC fee waivers are most common). Contact Mrs. Keahey for fee waivers for qualifying students and official transcripts.

The University of Alabama 2020 Application is Open!

The 2020 application is available today! Students can access the application atapply.ua.edu. Applicants will need to submit the application for admission, application fee, a copy of their official test scores, and their official high school transcript.

LONG & LONG COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

As local Alabama injury lawyers, helping people in our community is important to us. We take pride in fighting for justice on behalf of our clients.

In addition to serving injured individuals, we want to help our community’s youth by offering one high school senior a one-time $500 scholarship. By providing financial assistance, we hope to help one student pursue their academic endeavors. Our law firm values community and we believe in investing in the future.

Alfa Youth Leadership Conference

September 30th-Oct. 1st. at Alabama 4-H Center in Columbiana.

Students must be in their freshman or sophomore year of high school in fall 2019.

After the free, two-day training at the Alabama 4-H Center in Columbiana, students should be prepared to

* Identify their potential to better serve communities

* Step into leadership roles

The conference includes:

* High-energy workshops

* Motivational speakers

* Outdoor activities and games

* Relationship-building with leaders across the state
