The Auburn University Career Center is hosting Your Major Workshops this spring and summer for incoming freshmen. Incoming freshmen who are undecided on their major or career path are encouraged to attend one of the following sessions:

Friday, March 17

Tuesday, March 21

Monday, March 27

Wednesday, April 5

Wednesday, June 14

Wednesday, June 28

The workshops will take place from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM, and parents of freshmen are invited to attend a parent session on the same dates from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. The workshop costs $80 (includes lunch and assessments) per student attending and $15 per parent attending, and this will be charged to the student’s e-bill. The Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in October 2001 by the husband (Abraham) and family members of the late Janice Marie Scott to honor her legacy as an advocate for youth and supporter of community services within the Greater Metropolitan Area of Washington, DC. Mrs. Scott was among the 125 individuals who perished in the Pentagon on the morning of September 11, 2001 when terrorists crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the building of the Pentagon. The Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund became an official (501(c) 3) non profit organization in August 2004. Selections of recipients are based primarily on financial need.

You can find the eligibility requirements; application; criteria sheet, to include the required submission documents; and checklist online at http://jmscottmemorialfund.org that would allow high school seniors to determine their status and if eligible apply for scholarships.

Application packets must be received or postmarked on/or before March 31 st . They should be sent to: Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund, Post Office Box 1023, Springfield, Virginia 22151. The dollar amounts for scholarships will be determined annually by the board of directors. We will mail all scholarship checks directly to the college or university of the recipients to be credited to their student accounts.

Applicants should have the following credentials:

• 3.0 GPA
• 20 ACT or 910 SAT score
• Community Involvement
• Communication Skills
• Leadership Skills

Completed applications must be RECEIVED by March 6, 2017.

The Birmingham Branch of the ASCE is offering a scholarship to high school seniors who attend a civil engineering program at a university or college in Alabama that has been accredited by the ABET-EAC.

The application is below, and is due March 31, 2017. The winner will be notified by May 6, 2017.

2017 ASCE scholarship application

The South Shelby Chamber of Commerce awards a $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior from each high school in the southern region of Shelby County. The winners and their families will be honored at the April 6th South Shelby Chamber Membership Luncheon.

2017 South Shelby Scholarship Application

It is that time of year when the Shelby County Education Association offers its Annual Scholarship Program.  For 2017 SCEA will offer two $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors (child or grandchild of a current SCEA member) and one $1,000 scholarship to a member continuing his/her education in the education profession.  This is always an exciting event in our year and one of the many ways that your Shelby County Education Association gives back to its members.  The applications are attached below.  Please note that these scholarships are for active SCEA members.  The Shelby County ESP group has a separate scholarship offering.

The local scholarship application is now available. You may print out a copy using the link below, or pick up a copy in the counseling office. These are due back no later than Monday, April 3, 2017. This one scholarship application covers several local scholarships, including the Bryant Bank, Billy Jones, Columbiana Merchants, David Phillips, Edwin Rush, George Bentley, Stewart, and Scott Armstrong scholarships.

Eligibility: Alabama high school seniors who plan to attend the University of Montevallo
