Alabama Community Colleges–Scholarship Opportunities

At an average cost of attendance rounding out at about 4,300, Alabama’s Community Colleges back a big bang for their buck.  Some offer housing so you can live on campus while you attend.  All have courses that will transfer to Alabama’s Four Year College System.  Most all four year colleges offer transfer scholarships for students that complete two years at a Community College in Alabama.  Alabama’s Community Colleges differ in their scholarships.  Most all offer academic, technical and performing arts.  Simply click on the links provided and it will take you directly to the scholarship portal.  Most all have deadlines of March 1st, so get started today!

FAMILY CARING FOR FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

With this in mind, we’re excited to announce our Family Caring for Family Scholarship, which will offer three students a $500 scholarship each to be applied towards their tuition or other education-related expenses.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Students who have been accepted or currently attend a 2 or 4-year college in Alabama or the Florida Panhandle.

GPA of at least 3.0.

Employees of Long & Long and their relatives are not eligible to participate.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

ESSAY TOPIC

At Long & Long Attorneys at Law, we’re dedicated to treating every client and team member like a member of our own family. The importance of family lies within the core of everything we do.

In 500-750 words, tell us about a family member (biological or chosen) who has had a significant impact on your life, and how that impact will help you succeed as you go through college.

IMPORTANT DATES

October 23rd, 2020 – We will begin accepting applications for the Make a Difference Scholarship.

April 30th, 2021 – Application deadline. Submissions after this date will not be accepted.

May 17th-21st, 2021 – The three chosen winners will be notified via email.

May 24th – June 11th, 2021 – Checks will be distributed directly to the winners. We will coordinate a time with you to pick up your award!

**The winning applicants will be announced on Long & Long’s social media. By submitting an application, you agree to allow us to use your submission for marketing purposes.

The Brenda Tolbert-Williams Scholarship

The scholarship committee is currently accepting applications graduating high school seniors attending college for the 2021-2022 school year.

Applicants should have the following credentials:

 Graduating high school senior in Shelby County Schools
 Entering college as a freshman Fall 2021 or Spring 2022 term
 GPA of at least 2.5
 ACT Score of at least 15

To be considered for scholarship, applicants must provide the following:

 Complete an application form online
 Provide (1) Academic Letter of Recommendation from a School Official, such as a Teacher, Principal, or Counselor
 Provide a copy of OFFICIAL high school transcript
 Provide a copy of ACT scores 
 A head shot photograph for display and media purposes (required)
 Complete and submit a Media Release Form
 Submit a complete application package by March 1, 2021

Applicants who are awarded scholarships will be notified mid-April 2021 and will be recognized in the month of May at your school’s Award’s Day ceremony.

The amount of the scholarship is $500.00.
