Lincoln Tech Virtual Tour

There will be an opportunity for any senior who is interested in attending Lincoln Tech to participate in a virtual tour. The tour will take place via a Zoom meeting from 11:30 – 12:15. Students will need to email Mrs. Keahey at HKeahey@shelbyed.org if you want to join the meeting. Traditional students will meet together and remote students can participate online.

Shelton State Community College will host Virtual Spring Preview Day on Saturday, February 20, 2021, beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Zoom. Check-in begins at 9:45 a.m. The event is free to the public, and registration is required.

At Shelton State, opportunities are available in various technical and health services programs along with transferable options for academic programs. The College remains committed to providing education options to the West Alabama community in a way that is safe and accessible for all.

Alabama Community Colleges–Scholarship Opportunities

FAMILY CARING FOR FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP

With this in mind, we’re excited to announce our Family Caring for Family Scholarship, which will offer three students a $500 scholarship each to be applied towards their tuition or other education-related expenses.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Students who have been accepted or currently attend a 2 or 4-year college in Alabama or the Florida Panhandle.

GPA of at least 3.0.

Employees of Long & Long and their relatives are not eligible to participate.

ESSAY TOPIC

IMPORTANT DATES

October 23rd, 2020 – We will begin accepting applications for the Make a Difference Scholarship.

April 30th, 2021 – Application deadline. Submissions after this date will not be accepted.

May 17th-21st, 2021 – The three chosen winners will be notified via email.

May 24th – June 11th, 2021 – Checks will be distributed directly to the winners. We will coordinate a time with you to pick up your award!

**The winning applicants will be announced on Long & Long’s social media. By submitting an application, you agree to allow us to use your submission for marketing purposes.

The Brenda Tolbert-Williams Scholarship

The scholarship committee is currently accepting applications graduating high school seniors attending college for the 2021-2022 school year.

Applicants should have the following credentials:

 Graduating high school senior in Shelby County Schools
 Entering college as a freshman Fall 2021 or Spring 2022 term
 GPA of at least 2.5
 ACT Score of at least 15

To be considered for scholarship, applicants must provide the following:

 Complete an application form online
 Provide (1) Academic Letter of Recommendation from a School Official, such as a Teacher, Principal, or Counselor
 Provide a copy of OFFICIAL high school transcript
 Provide a copy of ACT scores 
 A head shot photograph for display and media purposes (required)
 Complete and submit a Media Release Form
 Submit a complete application package by March 1, 2021

Applicants who are awarded scholarships will be notified mid-April 2021 and will be recognized in the month of May at your school’s Award’s Day ceremony.

The amount of the scholarship is $500.00.

Alabama Stonewall Jackson Memorial Fund Repayable Scholarship Program

The Alabama Stonewall Jackson Memorial Fund, established in 1955 by an act of the Alabama Legislature, awards up to three repayable scholarships each May.


To be considered for a scholarship award, the applicant must be an Alabama high school senior and submit an original essay of 1500 to 2500 words on Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson.

Repayable scholarships are awarded in the following amounts:

  • 1st Place: $3,000
  • 2nd Place: $2,000
  • 3rd Place: $1,000

Submissions must be postmarked no later than April 1.
