National Youth Science Foundation

The NYSCamp is one of the nation’s premier programs in secondary science education. Since its inception in 1963 as part of West Virginia’s Centennial Celebration, the summer program has offered educational forums and recreational activities that encourage the development of thoughtful scientific leadership. Traditionally, the NYSCamp (http://www.nyscamp.org/) has been a residential STEM program designed to honor and challenge some of the nation’s rising STEM leaders and provide them with opportunities to engage with STEM professionals and participate in exciting outdoor activities. However, due to ongoing concerns about the pandemic, and taking into account the safety of the 2022 delegates, the Board of Trustees of the NYSF has elected to again cancel the in-residence portion of the 2022 NYSCamp and host a virtual camp experience.

The 2022 Camp will run from Monday June 27, 2022 to Wednesday July 20, 2022. Even with the virtual nature of the camp, delegates are expected to participate daily in camp activities for the entire duration of camp. The NYSCamp is offered to selected participants at NO COST so that talented students may attend regardless of their financial ability. Delegates must be graduating seniors who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, leadership in school and community activities, and a genuine interest in the sciences. Applications will be accepted at http://apply.nyscamp.org  until March 31, 2022 and most delegates will be notified of their selection by Monday May 2, 2022. Delegates will be expected to commit to attending camp and fill out delegate paperwork by June 1, 2022 or their spot may be given to an alternate from their state or another state. If you should need additional information, please contact Dr. Carolyn A. Jones by telephone at 334-694-4768 or via e-mail at cajones@alsde.edu.
