Alabama Home Builders Foundation Scholarship

The Alabama Home Builders Foundation Scholarship was founded in 1995 with a mission to help fund deserving students who are interested in pursuing an education in the residential building trades in the state of Alabama.

Eligibility

  • Must be a resident of Alabama.
  • Must be enrolling in, or attending, an accredited community
    college, technical school or university in Alabama.
  • Must be enrolled in a residential construction-related curriculum:
  •   Carpentry
  •   Electrical
  •   HVAC
  •   Plumbing
  •   Masonry
  •   Architecture (3rd year)
  •   Building Construction/Science (3rd year)
  •   Construction Management/Technology
  •   Engineering (Civil, Electrical)

Instructions

  • Applications must be received by March 15
  • If you would rather download a PDF version of the application and return it via mail, email or fax, 
  • Mailed applications must be postmarked by March 15th, should not be stapled or bound and sent to:

  • Faxed applications should be sent to 334-834-5380.

  • All applications received will be acknowledged via email. If you do not receive an email receipt, please check to see if we have received your application.
  • Application must be completely filled out including email and financial aid information as well as all required documentation listed below in order to be considered.

Required Attachments

  • College or high school transcript (whichever is most recent).
  • Minimum of one letter of recommendation. Letter must be signed and on letterhead if it is available.
  • Proof of residency, such as a copy of a state-issued identification or a copy of a utility bill

SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE TO FUND HIGH SCHOOL, COLLEGE STUDENTS’ PATHS TO AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING CAREERS

The AAMA and the Alabama Community College System are teaming up to help Alabamians interested in pursuing a technical education certificate or associate degree in preparation for a career related to the automotive manufacturing industry.

Requirements:

  • Must be a resident of Alabama
  • High School Senior or College Freshman
  • Must have a 2.5 overall GPA
  • Plans to pursue an automotive manufacturing related career in Alabama
  • Applicants must have a declared major in one of the approved scholarship related programs:
  • Automotive Manufacturing Technology
  • Automotive Manufacturing
  • Automotive Service Technician
  • Computer Numerical Control
  • Engineering Technology
  • Industrial Electronics Technology

Senior students and families will receive an email with instructions on how to unlock their free application on launch day, October 18. Students have until 11:59 p.m. CDT on October 22 to complete their free application.

2022 ALET Debbie Rice Memorial Scholarship

The Alabama Leaders in Educational Technology (ALET) organization invites graduating seniors to apply for its $10,000 2022 ALET Debbie Rice Memorial Scholarship. Applicants who meet the criteria in the attached should read the guidelines carefully and follow the directions for submission.

Kathleen P. Bruhn Memorial Leadership Scholarship Program

BridgeWays is now accepting applications for the 2021 Kathleen P. Bruhn Memorial Scholarship Program. BridgeWays recognizes graduating seniors who have made a positive impact on their community through volunteerism. Applications will be accepted now and must be received in the BridgeWays office located at 120 Oxmoor Boulevard, Suite 110, Homewood, AL 35209 by October 1, 2021. The recipient will be notified by October 14, 2021.

Student Volunteers Needed

The Columbiana Youth Softball League is looking for student volunteers who are able to help with cleaning up the softball fields and with staffing the concession stand. All hours would be performed at Lewis Field Concession Stand, which is just across the street from the SCHS Softball Field. 

There are 11 home game nights and need at least one volunteer (preferably two) for each night.  The duties will be assisting with staffing the concession stand, which includes start-up and clean-up.  The hours are roughly 5:30 PM until 9:30 PM.  The student volunteer will be under the supervision of a Board Member who is the manager of the concession stand for each home game night.  Cooking will be done by the manager, not the student.
