Jefferson State Community College Scholarship Opportunities

Jefferson State Community College is pleased to continue the tradition of providing scholarship opportunities to outstanding area high school students. High schools are able to nominate up to 2 students for your school – one student for an Academic Scholarship and one student for a Career Technical Scholarship. See the attached fact sheet for more information. 

In addition to the Counselor’s Scholarship, Jefferson State is pleased to offer the following scholarship opportunities to all graduating seniors.

Tuition and fees scholarship for up to 15 hours a semester for 6 semesters
Awarded to the top 35 students based on a combination of ACT score and GPA
Have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher at the end of their 1st semester senior year
Have a 22 or higher composite ACT score. ACT scores  be on file with Admissions by the April  1st deadline
Applied for admission to Jefferson State for Fall 2022 prior to submitting the scholarship application
Submit a copy of their high school transcripts showing their grades and GPA after the first semester of their senior year
Students with a composite ACT score of 25 or higher will receive a scholarship for 9 credit hours per semester for up to 6 semesters.
Students with a composite ACT score of 22-24 will receive a scholarship for 6 credit hours per semester for up to 6 semesters.
Have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher at the end of their 1st semester of senior year
Have a 22 or higher composite ACT score. ACT scores must be on file with Admissions by the June 1st deadline
Applied for admission to Jefferson State for Fall 2022 prior to submitting the scholarship application
Submit a copy of their high school transcripts showing their grades and GPA after the first semester of their senior year
Tuition and fees scholarship for up to 6 hours a semester for 6 semesters
Awarded to the top 50 students based on a combination of ACT score and GPA
Have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher at the end of their 1st semester of senior year, including JSCC coursework
Have 20 or higher composite ACT score. ACT scores must be on file with Admissions by the June 1st deadline
Successfully completed 6 or more credit hours in the JSCC Dual Enrollment program
Applied for admission to Jefferson State for Fall 2022 prior to submitting the scholarship application
Submit a copy of their high school transcripts showing their grades and GPA after the first semester of their senior year

JLB Scholarship

It is that time of year when The Junior League of Birmingham is accepting applications for Academic Scholarships through the JLB Scholarship Fund!
The JLB Scholarship application is available for both traditional and non-traditional students. All applications and recommendation forms are due February 1, 2022. For more information on eligibility and the JLB Scholarship Fund, go to https://www.jlbonline.com/jlb-scholarship/ .  

Potential Full-Ride Scholarships at the University of West (UWA)

The University of West Alabama (UWA) Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences has TEN (10) $8,500 annual scholarships available. This scholarship named Opportunity and Scholarship for Success II (BOSS II), and can be stacked with to other scholarships offered by UWA, scholarships making family contributions at minimum or zero for qualified students.

Examples:

  • A student with an ACT score of 22 can the BOSS II scholarship ($8,500) and Tiger Achievement Award ($2,000), totally $11,500 (60% of the attendance cost).
  • A student with an ACT score of 33 can get the BOSS II scholarship ($8,500) and Trustee Excellence Award ($12,000), totally $20,500 (100% of the attendance cost).

In addition to the $8,500, successful applicant will have free exclusive access to many resources, which include summer college preparation camp, well-being assessment, tutoring, and academic counselling.

Alabama Home Builders Foundation Scholarship

The Alabama Home Builders Foundation Scholarship was founded in 1995 with a mission to help fund deserving students who are interested in pursuing an education in the residential building trades in the state of Alabama.

Eligibility

  • Must be a resident of Alabama.
  • Must be enrolling in, or attending, an accredited community
    college, technical school or university in Alabama.
  • Must be enrolled in a residential construction-related curriculum:
  •   Carpentry
  •   Electrical
  •   HVAC
  •   Plumbing
  •   Masonry
  •   Architecture (3rd year)
  •   Building Construction/Science (3rd year)
  •   Construction Management/Technology
  •   Engineering (Civil, Electrical)

Instructions

  • Applications must be received by March 15
  • If you would rather download a PDF version of the application and return it via mail, email or fax, 
  • Mailed applications must be postmarked by March 15th, should not be stapled or bound and sent to:

SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE TO FUND HIGH SCHOOL, COLLEGE STUDENTS’ PATHS TO AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING CAREERS

The AAMA and the Alabama Community College System are teaming up to help Alabamians interested in pursuing a technical education certificate or associate degree in preparation for a career related to the automotive manufacturing industry.

Requirements:

  • Must be a resident of Alabama
  • High School Senior or College Freshman
  • Must have a 2.5 overall GPA
  • Plans to pursue an automotive manufacturing related career in Alabama
  • Applicants must have a declared major in one of the approved scholarship related programs:

Senior students and families will receive an email with instructions on how to unlock their free application on launch day, October 18. Students have until 11:59 p.m. CDT on October 22 to complete their free application.
