Happy Birthday: Jakeshia Pettiway

*Announcements:

* MMS volleyball tryouts will be this week and Girl’s basketball tryouts will be next week April, 24th – 27^th.  See Coach Conroy or Coach Jett for MMS permission forms and if you have not had a physical yet, you need to get a physical form.  You must have these 2 forms to try-out for volleyball or basketball.

*Current 8^th graders who are interested in trying out for high school basketball will have tryouts tomorrow Tuesday, April 18^th, and Wednesday, April 19^th, at MHS from 3:15-5:00.  You must have the high school tryout packet completed and a physical before tryouts.

*7^th Graders will test with the Aspire test today, tomorrow, and Wednesday.  Also the 6 Band students attending the Chicago trip will test on Tuesday and Wednesday.  8^th graders will test on Thursday and Friday. There will be no cell phones or smart watches allowed in the testing rooms at all.  Students testing will not need to bring anything to the testing room.

*The Yearbooks are still on sale for $30.00.

*Teachers there will be PLC meetings today after school in the library.

*Track will have a meet this afternoon in Pelham.

*Wednesday 8^th graders will have an Upward Bound Presentation at 2pm in the Cafeteria.

*The 6^th graders will be on a field trip on Wednesday to the Space Center in Huntsville.

*This Friday will be break so don’t have any tardies or silent lunches this week.

*Congratulations to the student of the week:  Jazmine Williams.  She was nominated by Mrs. Little.  Mrs. Little states that Jazmine demonstrated the character trait of integrity.  While others stood around doing nothing, encouraging horrible behavior, or recording it, she stepped in and did the right thing.  She put herself in harms way to stand up for someone else.

*Congratulations to the student of the week:  Breanna Jenkins.  She was nominated by Ms. Moore.  Ms. Moore states that Breanna has greatly improved in her class.  She works hard and completes all of his assignments.  She always gives her best effort.  The rest of the 7^th grade teachers also agree with Ms. Moore about Breanna.

*MMS Boys Basketball Tryouts for the 2017-18 school year will be held on today and tomorrow at MMS from 4:00-5:30pm.  You must have turned in a packet to Coach Horton and have a current physical in order to try out.

*We are collecting box tops again.  Remember that for every 10 box tops that you turn in, you get two tardy to class passes.

*Congratulations to the student of the week:  Madison Reasor.  She was nominated by Mrs. Harding. Mrs. Harding states that Maddie continuously demonstrates the character traits of leadership, teamwork, and perseverance.  Maddie is always willing to help other students in the classroom when needed. She works well in groups and goes above and beyond what is expected by keeping those around her focused and on track. She also shows determination when faced with difficult tasks and always strives to do her best.
