DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Happy Birthday: James McIntyre

*Announcements:

*The Yearbook signing party will be tomorrow for $2.00.  We will be on an activity schedule tomorrow.

*There are applications in the office for any student that is interested in joining the Montevallo Junior City Council. If you plan to take one, please have it filled and returned by May 17^th to the front office.

*There will be a parent Volleyball meeting tonight at 5pm in the cafeteria.  Please remember to bring your food item.

*The Talent Show will be next Thursday at 1pm for $2.00.

*There will be no lunch charges from now until the end of school.

*All Make up work for Mrs. Whitt – Wright is due by tomorrow at the end of 4^th period.

*The Honor Roll Field Trip Permission slips and $6.00 need to be turned in by Monday to Mrs. Lusco.

*Archery Tryouts for next year will be next Thursday after school from 3-5 at the MMS gym.  There will be an archery class during 4^th period next year.

*All library books are due this Friday, May 12th.   ELA teachers will collect books each period and have one or two students bring the stack of books to the library.  Students, please look through your locker, book bag, and at home for your book and turn it in.  If you can’t find your library book, you will need to pay for it.  You will not be able to attend Spring Fling until all your books are either turned in or paid for.

* If you participated in the Keyboarding Challenge in the library last week, the winners will be announced on or possibly before Wednesday, May 17th.  The top 12 typists from each grade competed against 5 other middle schools in Shelby County.  Thanks to everyone who participated and we’ll announce the winning school and the top 3 typists from each grade as soon as we hear back next week.

*Remember that you will not be able to attend the end of the year activities if you owe money for textbooks, library books, or if you are failing your classes.

Our school will be competing with other middle schools in Shelby County.  The school with the fastest, most accurate scores will receive $6,000 in technology funding.  Individual prizes will be given to the top 3 typists per grade level, including Free Admission to Spring Fling, free slushie from the lunch room, and a tardy to class pass. Teachers, please check your email for a list of these students, and please allow them to make up their work.

*This is your last chance to turn in Peer Helper Applications, Upward Bound Packets, and Elective Sheets.

*Soccer workouts begin today and will continue on Mondays and Wednesdays this month from 4-6.

*There will be a meeting tomorrow night for 8^th grade parents who want to help out with the 8^th grade cookout.  The meeting will be at MMS at 6pm.

*The Student Institute Showcase will be tomorrow night for those students involved in the Student Institute.

*Congratulations to the student of the week:  Kayla Mitchell.  She was nominated by Mrs. Lucas.  Mrs. Lucas states that Kayla demonstrated the character trait of service and compassion. Kayla took it upon herself to copy down math problems for another student who had to go to LCC in order to help out that student.
