Character Education Theme for the Week: African American Spotlight: Guy Bluford* became the first African American in space on Aug. 30, 1983, aboard the Challenger on NASA’s eight space shuttle mission (STS-8). Guion “Guy” Bluford is a former NASA astronaut who was the first African-American to fly into space. He flew four shuttle missions.

*7^th Grade Math team will practice today.

**Coupon Brochures are on sale through February 28^th

The 4^th period class that sells the most coupon brochures will receive a pizza party during 4^th
Teachers, for every book you buy or sell you will receive a JEAN Sticker and the teacher that sells the most will get an extra duty free lunch day for the month of May.
Students who sell one brochure will receive a spirit band bracelet and if they sell 3 books, they will receive a day of free time in the gym (or if it’s sunny it will be free time outside, this will be during 4^th)+

*This coming Friday 2/23 – we will hold our annual Hoops for Heart celebration in the gym during PE times. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to contribute any monetary amount. Please see PE teachers for collection envelopes. All money is due by Friday. All students raising $5 or more will receive a prize and be able to participate in the gym activities during their PE classes where there will be music, contests and gatorade. Help us try to reach our school goal of $1,000 and raise money to fight America’s number one killer – HEART DISEASE! See Coach Jett or Coach Horton with any questions.

*Tennis will have a match today at McAdory. Tennis players will need to leave at 2:30 for the match.

*Would you like to be a majorette, on the danceline, or on the colorguard? Auxiliary (Majorettes, Danceline, Colorguard) clinics are start on Wednesday, Feb. 21st – March 1st, Try-outs will be on March 2^nd.

*Yearbooks are on sale today for $30.00.

*The 2018-2019 MMS Cheerleading Try-outs Clinic will be on March 12-15 @ MHS from 3:00-5:00. Try-outs will be on Friday, March 16 @ MHS 3:00. Please see Mrs. Bishop for the registration packet. There will be a parent interest meeting Tuesday, February 27^th at 5:30 in the Media Center.
