“Jenny from the Block” has always paid tribute to her Latin roots throughout her success.Jennifer Lopez was born in the Bronx, New York, in 1969 to Puerto Rican parents who supported her ambitions to become a singer, taking singing and dancing lessons starting at 5 years old. This changed when Lopez dropped out of college to pursue acting, with her parents strongly opposing her aspirations. After touring the world with various productions, Lopez made her breakthrough performance in Selena. The 1997 movie, in which she played the beloved Mexican singer Selena Quintanilla, who had been killed just years prior, earned Lopez praise and put her on the fast track to superstardom.
- Don’t forget our Homecoming Week activities have been moved to next week, October 5th through 9th. Monday, October 5th’s dress up theme is “Camo Day”
- Thursday October 20th is Pink Out Day in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Our Football team is also scheduled to play Jemison Middle on this day.
- Friday October 16th: Please wear your Sombrero for Hispanic Heritage Month Hat Day, the cost is $1
- Sign up dates for Boys Basketball tryouts are, Sept. 28 – Oct. 9, 2020 with Coach Horton. Tryouts will take place October 14th and 15th
- Girls Basketball tryouts are Oct. 6, 7,8 from 3:15-5:00pm. To sign up, please see Coach Jett or Coach Hartsell
