• Congratulations to both Lady Dawg teams for shutting out the Westminster Knights in 2 straight sets.  Sarah Kayte Lash and Jaena Carrillo led all 8th grade servers with 10. Sarah Kayte also scored 2 KILLS.  Evelyn Smith shut out Westminster with 16 straight service points.  Way to go girls!  The 8th grade team plays again on Tuesday at Montevallo High School starting at 5:00 followed by the JV and Varsity teams.  Come support the girls at their LAST HOME game.  They are having a GREAT season!!
• Students please have your Counseling Opt-In form signed, you will need this form to participate in any classroom guidance lessons
• You can come to the front office to get a form or if you see Mrs. Thomas, let her know you need one
• In appreciation of Hispanic Heritage Month here is a fun fact:
• There are more than 450 million native speakers of Spanish, making it second only to Chinese in terms of the most spoken languages in the world. English is just behind Spanish, with approximately 360 million native speakers. Spanish is the third most studied language in the world, after English and French. 

• Students!!! We will have our first break of the year on Friday Sept 23rd.  Please ask your teachers what does break mean!!!

• CONGRATULATIONS to Rosemery Hernandez for being selected as ATHLETE OF THE MONTH for AUGUST!  Rosemery does an amazing job as captain and setter of the 8th grade volleyball team and also plays basketball.  She was selected as player of the week by her teammates and voted on by the faculty and staff to receive this recognition.  Way to go!

• Congratulations to both lady dawg volleyball teams for their victories over the panthers of Jemison yesterday.  The 8th graders were led by Aaliyah Dubose with 100% 15 out of 15 serves, followed by Amariona Davis’s 10 out of 11 and Shiko Thomas also added a perfect 8 for 8 to win the tie-breaker game.  The seventh graders also won in a tie-breaker and were led by Evelyn Smith’s perfect 10 for 10 and Natalie Lutz’s 8 for 8.  Nicoloe Almora Sosa also served 100% with 6 out of 6.  Way to go lady dawgs!!!

• Congratulations again to both our Football and Volleyball teams for their outstanding performance on Tuesday. 
• The football team won against Jemison 19-8
•  The 8th grade girls on their win on Tuesday vs. West Blocton.  The 7th grade girls also played well against Blocton’s 8th grade team.  Sarah Kayte Lash led all servers with 12 out of 13, 6 being ACES.  Rosemery also served  9 out of 10 with 7 ACES.  The girls play again today at Jemison with the 7th graders playing first at 4:30.  Let’s wish them good luck today! GO LADY DAWGS!!!
