Announcements:

*Tonight will be the MMS Open House at 5:30pm.  Please encourage your parents to attend.  The band and choir will be performing and your parents will get a chance to visit your teacher’s classrooms.   There will also be chess boards set up in the library so you can play your parents a game of chess. The open house will end at 7:30pm. Band Members, LOT Members, Choir Members, and Ambassadors should dress nice for the occasion.

*The Montevallo Day of Pageants will be held on February 6^th in the Performing Arts Center at MHS.  The registration packets are now in the office for pick up and are due on Friday, January 29^th.

*Please keep bringing in box tops.  For every 10 that you bring in, you will receive two tardy to class passes.

*Literary magazine submissions are due to Ms. Moore or your ELA teacher by the end of January.

*The LOT students will be on a field trip today.

*Congratulations to the student of the week:  Cody Posey.  He was nominated by Mrs. Nelson.  Mrs. Nelson states that Cody epitomizes the character traits of service and compassion when he offered to her hand warmers while she was out doing car rider duty in the bitter cold.

Any 8^th grader interested in trying out for color guard, dance line, or majorette as part of the 2016 Montevallo Marching Troubadours needs to see Mr. Lawley to receive an informational packet.  There is a mandatory parent meeting about tryouts on February 11 at 6:00 p.m. in the Montevallo High School band room

Have a Tremendous Tuesday

*No School on Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

*Tuesday night is the MMS Open House beginning at 5:30 pm in the new gymnasium.  There will be a few guest speakers and performances from the MMS 7th and 8th grade bands and the MMS Choir.  After the assembly, parents may visit classrooms and view the new school facilities. There will also be chess games set up in the library if you would like to play a game of chess with your child in celebration of the Montevallo Chess Initiative.  The Open House will end at 7:30 pm.  Punch and cookies will be served.

*For 8th graders who wanted to order the 8th grade panoramic pictures, the deadline was extended until tomorrow. (Saturday, January 16th)

*Shelby County Schools will be offering night classes for adults in the areas of welding, carpentry, and automotive skills beginning in February.  Below is the link to the article about the program. If you are interested in taking any of these classes please contact the following individuals:

*Today we will have a wrestling and basketball fundraiser activity in the gym.  It will cost $2.00 to participate in the activity.  We are on an activity schedule.  Those not attending the activity must remain in your 7^th period class.

*8^th graders may still order the panoramic picture until next Saturday, January 16th.  The deadline was extended.  If you need any extra form, please come by the office.

*Students received a pre physical form in PE classes.  The cost to receive a physical from Lemak is $5.00.  Please return your forms & money by today.  This Friday will be the physical field trip to the High School during 3^rd and part of 4^th period.   All students wishing to try out for Spring or upcoming Fall sports needs to have a physical on file.  This includes 6^th graders trying out for Fall sports this April.
