*African American History Spotlight for the Day: Did you know that Jesse Owens won 4 Gold Medals at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany in the sport of Track and Field? Did you know that he was born in Oakville, Alabama?

  • Announcements:

*COTS and all other MMS Teams & Organizations such as Peer Helpers, Scholar’s Bowl Teams, Math Teams, Diamond Dolls, BETA, Archery, Tennis, Wrestling, etc will have pictures taken for the yearbook this morning.  Wait to be called out for your group.

*Track Practice begins today from 3-4:45.  You must have your forms turned into Ms. Moore before you can stay for practice.

*This Thursday will be the Mardis Gras Dance from 3-5pm. The cost will be $5.00.

*Tomorrow night there is a parent and student informational meeting at the Montevallo High School Performing Arts Center for all 8th grade students.  Ms. Allen from the high school will be coming to Mr. Week’s class on Friday to talk to 8th graders about next year’s classes so don’t be absent on Friday.

There is a mandatory parent meeting for those interested in MMS cheerleading on Monday, February 22 at 5:00 PM in the media center.  Registration packets will be available for pick-up that night. Students that are interested should sign up on the sheet outside Mrs. Bishop’s door.

*There will be a Mandatory parent meeting February 12th at 6 PM in the PAC at the High School for any 8th grade girl interested in cheerleading next year.  You will pick up your packets that night.

*Any 6th or 7th grade girl that is interested in Monday and Wednesday work-outs needs to turn in permission to Coach Jett before staying after school.  We will begin work-outs today after school.

*The Teen Center in Montevallo opens starting today.  If you need an application packet, they are in the front office.

*Coupon Books are still on sale for $20.00

*Congratulations to the student of the week:  Jorien Gilbert.  He was nominated by Mrs. Fenn.  He displayed the character traits of kindness and compassion. Mrs. Fenn states that Jorien stood up for a student who was being bullied and the told the other boys to stop making fun of her.
