* This Friday will be LEAD.

*There will be a soccer parent meeting tonight for all middle school and high school soccer players at 6pm in the PAC at MHS.

*The sports physical field trip will be on Friday.

*Yearbooks are now on sale for $25.00 during the month of January. Please bring cash or checks made out to MMS to Mrs. Harding. In February, the price will increase to $30.00.

*The Montevallo Day of Pageants will be held Saturday, Feb. 2.  If you are interested in becoming the next Junior Miss Montevallo please come by the office and get an entry form.  All entry forms and payments must be turned in by Friday, Jan. 25th. All girls in grades 6-8 may participate.

*There will be no school on Monday, January 21st in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

*The 8th grade parent night at Montevallo High School will be on Wednesday, January 30th, at 6pm.

*Remember our current fundraiser is candy bar sales.

*Congratulations to the student of the week: Anyssia Daniels. She was nominated by Mrs. Guraya.  Mrs. Guraya states that Anyssia has shown much progress in her academics and in her positive interactions in class.

*Tomorrow (Saturday) from 11:30-8pm help support the MHS Parent Teacher Organization by dining at Zapapan’s in Montevallo. There is a flyer attached to this email about the fund raiser. 

*The 8th grade parent night at Montevallo High School will be on Wednesday, January 30th, at 6pm. Attached to this email is the flyer about that program.

*The Sports Physical Field Trip will be on Friday, January 18th, during the school day. Students needed to turn in their permission form and $10 to the coaches this week.

*Report cards and last year’s test scores went home with report cards this week.  If your child is failing a class for the 9 weeks or the semester, please set up a parent/teacher conference.

* This Friday will be break so don’t have any tardies or silent lunches.

*Anyone interested in getting a sports physical should get a permission form from Coach Horton or Coach Jett and return it with the $10 fee by tomorrow.  Only the first 100 students to return forms and money will be guaranteed a spot on the bus.  The trip will take place on Friday, Jan.18 at Calera High.  All students that went to Lemak last year will have an expired physical in a few weeks and will no longer be eligible to participate or try-out unless you update your physical.   See PE coaches with any questions.

*Battle of the Books will have our first meeting on Tuesday, January 8th after school until 3:45.  We will meet every Tuesday for 9 weeks until our county competition in March.  If you attended the Battle of the Books interest meeting in November and have already completed reading at least ONE of the three books,  you can attend the first meeting.   You must have a ride to come pick you up promptly at 3:45 at the side bus door

*Report cards will go home tomorrow.

*There will be a golf interest meeting tomorrow at 2:35 in Mrs. Stallworth’s room. This meeting is only for the students who signed up for golf during PE.

*Congratulations to the student of the week: Arianna Jones.  She was nominated by Mrs. Lewis.  Mrs. Lewis states that Arianna demonstrated the character traits of compassion and helpfulness when she stopped and helped a student whose tray was spilled in the cafeteria.
