*Announcements:

*COTS will be tomorrow.  If you do not have all of your schoolwork done, you will not be allowed to attend COTS and will attend intervention COTS instead.

*The LOT students will be on a field trip today.

The Scholastic Book Fair is next week.  You will come to the bookfair on Monday, Oct. 3rd with your ELA teacher.  This isn’t a preview day, we are actually selling books beginning on Monday.  Then, Tuesday through Friday, you may come back to the library when your ELA Teacher gives you permission.   You must show them your cash or a check made out to Montevallo Middle before they let you come to the library.

You will be shown a preview video in your 4th period class some day this week.   You will also get a flier on Friday for you to take home to your parent or guardian.  You may circle the books you’re interested in to determine how much money to bring. See you at the book fair!

*Volleyball will have home games tonight at 5 and 6.  You may attend free if you bring two canned goods and are with a paying adult.

*All student council members need to meet with Mr. Weeks tomorrow morning after announcements.

*There will be no school on Monday, October 10th but the Montevallo Teen Center will be open that day.

* Tuesday will be Pink Out Day where you will wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  We will have a home football game that night at 6pm.

*Tomorrow is the Homecoming Game.  Wear your orange and blue and Montevallo spirit clothes. The game begins at 6pm and the team is playing Vincent.

*Tomorrow we will be on an Activity schedule for the Pep Rally.

*Tomorrow is Athletic Day where you can wear Athletic clothes (shorts and sweats) to school for $2.00 to benefit the MMS PTO.

*If you are not caught up on all of your schoolwork, you will not attend the Pep Rally tomorrow.

*The Volleyball team will play tonight in Thorsby  at 5:30pm.

*Teachers don’t forget to bring your items for the tailgate party tomorrow.

*Congratulations to the student of the week: Timothy Waters.  He was nominated by Mrs. Harding.  Mrs. Harding states that Timothy demonstrated the character trait of service and he demonstrated initiative when he cleaned up Mrs. Harding’s room after another student made a mess without being asked by the teacher. .

*Kona Ice will be sold during the dance tonight.  The cost is anywhere from $3:00 to $5:00 depending in the size you get. Proceeds will support the MMS Chess Club.

*Tonight’s dance cost $5.00 to attend.  You will pay at the door.  Please remain in the classroom after the bell and listen for the announcements for your grade level to attend.  Your parents must pick you up right at 5pm.

*For Homecoming Dress Up tomorrow it will be Celebrity Day. (Dress like your favorite celebrity). The Homecoming Dance will be tomorrow from 3-5pm.  The cost will be $5.00 at the door.  Your parents must pick you up right at 5pm.

*Kona Ice will be sold during the dance.  The cost is anywhere from $3:00 to $5:00 depending in the size you get. Proceeds will support the MMS Chess Club.

*Monday is Twins Day (dress like your best buddy) and Tuesday is Spirit Day (wear your orange and blue).   Every day there will be a competition between the grade levels and Mrs. Lewis will count how many students from each grade level dressed up.  At the end of the homecoming week festivities, the grade level with the best participation will win a prize.

*Announcements:

*Volleyball will play at home tonight with the game beginning at 5pm. f you missed the volleyball games last night, you have a chance to come again tonight against Calera starting at 5.  Adults are $4 and students get in free with 2 canned goods and parental supervision.  You must have an adult with you.  The lady dawgs got off to a slow start against Isabella and lost the first game 20-25.  They rallied back to win the second game 25-9, but lost a nail bitter deciding game 17-19.  Timyriauynna led all servers with 25 out of 26 and and 9 of those were ACES.  Hayden Dennis contributed  in that game with 11 out of 12 and 6 of those were ACES.  Jazmin Davis had 3 kills and Kayce Sankey put away 2 Kills.  In the game vs. West Blocton, the girls put them away with 2 straight games to win the match.  The first team dominated with Hayden Dennis serving 6 out of 8 and 5 ACES and Timy Purnell had 8 out of 9 with 7 ACES! Way to go lady dawgs!!!

*The Football team plays their game in Calera tonight at 5:30 pm.

*Teachers don’t forget about Montevallo Connections today after school at 4pm.

*The MMS Cross Country Team will Race this Saturday at Veterans Park in the Spain Park Cross Country Event. The Girls race at 9:15 am and the Boys race at 9:45.  Come out to cheer for our Runners.  Look for the MMS Bulldog tent.

*Mr. Taylor will have an information meeting to discuss plans to take any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student on the trip of a life time. The meeting will be next Wednesday, Sept 21 at 6:00 pm in the library. He will discuss plans to take a 5 day trip to New York and Boston. If you have any questions see Mr. Taylor.

* Today will be Picture Day during your PE class time.

*For tomorrow night’s home volleyball game there will be a canned food drive to benefit the Shelby County Emergency Assistance organization.

*Students please collect box tops.  For every 10 box tops that you turn into the office, you will receive two tardy to class passes.

*Friday we will be on break schedule so make sure that you do not have any tardies, silent lunches, or discipline write ups.

*Mr. Taylor will have an information meeting to discuss plans to take any 6th 7th or 8th grade student on the trip of a life time. The meeting will be next Wednesday, Sept 21 at 6:00 pm in the library. He will discuss plans to take a 5 day trip to New York and Boston. If you have any questions see Mr. Taylor.
