Students you are reminded that no outside food or drinks are to be brought into the buildings.
Prospective YLDP participants: Please remember to submit your YLDP membership packet and $24 program fee to Ms. Allen by TOMORROW!

If so, Youth Leadership Shelby County is seeking responsible, conscientious, and motivated stu-dents to be a part of this year’s program. Only a select number of applicants will be accepted. See Ms. Allen by Friday for an application.
Juniors: The Together Working For Change Youth Council is a county-wide pro-gram that uses student leaders to educate the community on the dangers of underage drinking and social hosting. Schools can select only two representatives, so see Ms. Allen by Friday if you would like to be considered.
Students: Would you like to get first-hand experience into a career in law enforce-ment? The Montevallo Police Explorer Program will hold an informational meeting Sept. 15 at Parnell Library from 6:30-8:30. Interested students, ages 15-20, should make plans to attend.
Seniors: ABC 33/40 and America’s First Federal Credit Union is looking to recog-nize 30 of the best and brightest students in Central Alabama. Nominees must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and be considered an outstanding student in athletics, band, citi-zenship, and/or fine arts. See Ms. Allen if you ‘d like to be considered.
There will be an important SGA meeting in Mrs. Pastor’s room during 7th period today. All officers and reps are expected to be there.

Any student interested in learning more about health-care related careers should consider the Exploring Program at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. The kick-off meeting is Wednesday, the 17th, and students who are interested can pick up the required forms from the Counseling Center and fax them to 620-7869. Okay, we’ve fallen behind….
We’ve obviously gotten Oak Mtn.’s attention because there is no doubt they have a concerted effort to win this thing, as do we. However, we’re going to make one last surge today to win this!!! Vote for Zac!!!

Each week in September, we will monitor student attendance and tardiness, looking for students who do not have ANY absences (excused or unexcused) and 0 tardies (to school or class). These stu-dents will be rewarded with snacks and social time during 7th period on each Thurs-day. We will be giving away other prizes for qualifying students, such as free game passes, free homework passes, “drop the lowest grade” passes, free “sock hop” admissions, and other related rewards. At the end of the month of Septem-ber, we will reward students who have 0 absences and 0 tardies (between Aug. 29 – Sep. 26), with a dance, social time, and snacks during 7th and 8thperiod.”

Juniors and Seniors: A representative from the Univ. of Montevallo will be on campus this Thursday during 7th period in the library. Interested students should sign up in the Guidance Office.
Montevallo High School has the opportunity to select 2 juniors and 4 seniors for the Greater Alabama Council Youth Leadership Development Program. Participating students will be expected to attend monthly leadership meetings and actively participate in the program. Interested students should see Ms. Al-len today to be considered. Once selected, students will be asked to pay a $24.00 registration fee.
If you are a student who interviewed for Big Brother Big Sister, please make note that mandatory training will take place TOMORROW at 7:45 a.m. in the PAC. Every “Big” must participate in training. Keep in mind that Wed. is a late start day. See Ms. Allen if you have questions or concerns.
“Tomorrow (Wednesday Sep. 3rd) will be our first Late-Start Day for the school year. School opening will be delayed tomorrow by one hour. If you are a bus rider, buses will run on time as they do everyday. Car riders and drivers can arrive at school an hour later than usual, but absences and tardiness will be recorded as usual. The first bell will ring at 8:45 A.M. and the tardy bell will ring at 8:50 A.M., as usual.”
