MHS News 11/30/2016

Yearbooks are now on sale for $50.

There will be a Students Institute Field Trip on Friday, December 2 for all participants in that program. Dress casually, there is no cost, and lunch will be provided. You will be called out during the middle of 1st period and will return by the beginning of 8th period. Please see Mrs. Pastor if you have any questions.

Students: A representative from the Alabama National Guard will be available in the cafeteria during the senior and junior lunch waves on Tues., Dec. 6

Juniors and Seniors: A representative from the Lincoln College of Technology in Nashville, TN will be in the library on Thurs., Dec. 8 during both the 11th and 12th grade lunch waves. Interested students should sign up in the Guidance Office.

Attention Seniors: The FAFSA help sessions have been rescheduled for Friday, Dec. 9. Students who need help completing the FAFSA can come to the computer lab during English class. Please remember to have all necessary info. Parents are welcome to contact Ms. Allen to schedule an appointment as well.

Be sure to turn in your November community service hours in to Mrs. Glover this week.

Peer Helpers and friends will be sponsoring a service project to help My Sister’s Place, Inc., a residential program for women located here in Montevallo. We will be collecting toiletry items from Tues Nov 29 through Thursday Dec 8th to put in Holiday gift bags for the residents. Collection boxes are located History Classes and in the office, and some of the History teachers have agreed to give bonus points for items brought in . Please Donate! Here is a list of some items we will need: toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, brushes, combs, shavers, nail clippers, tweezers, deodorant, scented lotions, scented body wash, scented body sprays, loofah or body sponges, washcloths, shampoo, conditioner, face wash moisturizer.

*Bulldogs will host their first home Basketball game today starting with the JV boys at 4:30, Varsity girls
at 6:00, and Varsity boys at 7:30 against West Blocton. Pep Club members can get in for only $3 tonight with their membership card. Come out and support your Bulldogs.

*The gym floor will be getting waxed today. NO ONE should be in there. …everybody stay out of the gym
for the next 4 days. All PE classes will report to the athletic hall.

All students who came to the Model UN Meeting with Mrs. Pastor last week and want to be a part of the team need to bring back their signed agreements to Mrs. Pastor by TODAY. There will be a mandatory Model UN Meeting during GPS time Today. 9th and 10th grade at the beginning of 4th period GPS (9th graders get lunch and bring to the room) / 11th and 12th grade at the beginning of 5th period GPS (11th graders get lunch and bring to the room)

MHS News 11/15/2016

The University of Montevallo’s Community School of Music (UMCSM) has offered high quality, non-credit, music instruction at a reasonable price for over 44 years. UMCSM provides private lessons on all instruments including piano, voice, guitar (classical and pick style), violin, trumpet, flute, French horn, trombone, clarinet, mandolin, ukulele, and organ, to name a few. Lessons are once a week and are available in a 15 week, 10 week or 6 week semesters during the Fall and Spring plus an 8 week schedule is available during the summer. Lessons can be 30 or 60 minutes. Seniors: Ms. Allen will soon be ordering diplomas. Your name will be presented as it is on your birth certificate unless you indicate otherwise. Graduation Name Cards will be available outside Ms. Allen’s office and should be returned by Nov. 18 if you wish to correct the spelling of your name.
