MHS News 10/11/2016

Congratulations to Diego Martinez for being selected as a Fox 6/Americas First Federal Credit Union Rising Star. Diego’s commercial spot will air this Thursday at 5pm.
Congratulations also to Mrs. Majors for being selected by the Bulldogs as Teacher / Support of the Week!
Parents: Today your child was given permission forms and information regarding the Flu shots to be given on Oct. 18 & 19th. Please be sure to review this and return the permission forms by Oct. 18 to the school nurse.
Softball Try-Outs will be from Monday Oct 17th – Thursday Oct 20th from 6:00 to 8pm. Forms must be turned in by Thursday October 13th in order to try-out. See Coach Gothard room 114 for details and forms.
Attention Juniors and Seniors: A representative from the University of West Alabama will be on campus Wed., Oct. 12 during both the 11th and 12th GPS periods. Interested students should sign up in the Guidance Office.
Students: This is just a reminder that the deadline to register for the PSAT is Fri., Oct. 14. There are limited spots remaining. See Ms. Allen to pay your test fee and get your prep book.
Sophomores: It is now time for MHS to select its HOBY representative for 2016-2017. HOBY is a 3-day leadership seminar at Troy University for sophomore students who want to give back to their communities through leadership and service. Interested students should see Ms. Allen if you would like to be considered.

Community service hours are due to your history teacher TODAY any hours you have completed since April 1st.

Homecoming Queen, King, and Princess voting will take place today and tomorrow, concluding at 3 PM. Your History and GPS teacher has the Google Form link for your grade level.

JRS: Youth Leadership Shelby County applications due TODAY to Ms. Allen.

Community service hours are due to your history teacher this week for any hours you have completed since April 1st. Each month a student will be selected as Community Service Leader of the month. Once you have turned in 20 hours, you will receive The MHS Volunteer t-shirt. Seniors who have turned in 75 hours by March 31, may apply for a $500 scholarship. Get your form filled out and turn those hours in next week.

Students are reminded that no one should be parking in the old student lot behind the AB building. All parking spots are currently sold and student should have tag displayed. Those without a tag are subject to being towed at your expense.

Be sure to turn in your community service hours to your history teacher this week for any hours you have completed since April 1st. Mrs. Glover will get them and will keep a track of them. Students: Interested in a medical career? If so, the Hospital Explorer Program’s Open House, TOMORROW at 6 p.m. at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. Application packets are outside Ms. Allen’s office.
