MHS News 9/7/2017

PROGRESS REPORTS GO HOME TOMORROW

Sr. portrait orders are being taken in the cafeteria until 8 am today.

If you plan on participating in Powderpuff as a player, coach, or cheerleader, please see Coach Niven starting Thursday to pay your $5 participation fee. You will also need a participation permission/release form signed as well. You can get those from Coach Niven or your Grade Level HC Sponsor. If you signed up to play in the Dodgeball and Volleyball Tournaments during Homecoming Week, you need to pay your Grade Level HC Sponsor $3 for participation in each tournament or $5 if you play in both.

Softball Evaluations will be on Saturday, September 16 from 8:00-10:00 AM & 11:30-1:30 PM. You must attend both sessions. Players interested in playing must sign up and pick up a tryout packet in Coach DuBose’s room, Room 110. To tryout you must have proper paperwork on file before the tryout date. The deadline to sign up and get paperwork returned is Thursday, September 14. No paperwork, no tryout. Any questions see Coach Niven or Coach DuBose.

Attention Big Brother Big Sister Mentors: Please remember to eat lunch during the “junior wave” today so that you can attend training at 11:45 in the PAC.

Attention Students: The Psi Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. is seeking participants for its ASCEND program. A few of the program targets include Achievement, Engagement, and Networking Skills. Interested students should see Ms. Allen for an application. The deadline is Sept. 15.

Attention Sophomores: You will be taking part in the Career Awareness Fair in Columbiana on Sept. 12. Please be sure to arrive to school on time. Students who do not wish to attend should see Ms. Allen this week.

Attention Seniors: Senior Parent Night has been rescheduled for Monday, Sept. 18 at 6pm. Please make plans to attend.

Seniors: Your permission forms for the Fall College Fair to be held at UM are due to Ms. Allen by Sept. 19.

*We currently have a few school spirit shirts available for sale for $15.00. Sizes are limited. Please check with the main office if you would like to purchase one.
*School Pictures will be taken Tuesday, September 5th, as well as the final senior portrait make-ups, formal pictures only.

*Juniors and Seniors: MHS still needs to nominate 2 juniors and 4 seniors for participation the Youth Leadership Development Program. YLDP participants should be students of high character who desire to impact the community through leadership.
*Monthly meetings are required and there are exclusive scholarship opportunities. See Ms. Allen by Sept. 5 if you would like to be considered.
*Attention Juniors: If you are a socially conscious student leader who desires to engage in hands-on experiences meant to enhance your community, then Youth Leadership Shelby County needs you. YLSC is a 6 month program that begins with a mandatory retreat in Nov. See Ms. Allen for an application. Space is limited.
*Attention Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentors: The training scheduled for Thurs., Sept. 7 at 11:45 is required for both new and returning Bigs. Students who believe they cannot be present should let Ms. Allen know in advance.
