MHS News 9/11/2020

TODAY marks the 19 year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93 which crashed in suburban Pennsylvania. Patriot Day serves as a remembrance of the lives lost on that September morning. By a joint resolution approved 12/18/2001, (Public Law 107-89) has designated September 11th of each year as “Patriot Day”

All students parking on campus: If you do not have a permit by Monday, Sept. 14 you may not park on campus.

SGA candidate application due Tuesday. Make sure you complete the online Candidate form and get two teacher recommendations.

Elections will be conducted in Social Studies Google Classrooms via a Google Form on Wednesday, September 23, 2020.
Winners will be announced on Thursday, September 24, 2020. In case there is a runoff for any close races (margin of fewer than 10 votes), it will be held on Friday, September 25, 2020. Please email Ms. Pastor at lpastor@shelbyed.org if you cannot locate a candidate application in your History Google Classroom and she will send one to you.


Football, cheer, and band picture orders are due by Tues., Sept. 15th to Mrs. Fricke, room 203.
School pictures and senior portrait make-ups will be September 22.
REMOTE STUDENTS ONLY: Sr. Portrait make-up will begin @ 8 am. Regular school day pictures will be from
8:45-9:30am.

Any student interested in wrestling this year needs to stop by Coach Langer’s room and sign up.

Anyone interested in playing baseball please send an email to Coach Shelton at c2shelton@shelbyed.org (for virtual learners) and/or see him after school this week in the athletic hall

Basketball will be holding tryouts next week for 2 days!
(Wednesday, Sept. 16 and Friday, Sept. 18)
Both nights tryouts will be from 6:00 PM – 7:30 in the Gym.
Players interested either may email Coach Bell or come by his room if possible.

Are you a person who has strong character and leadership skills? Then we want you to represent Montevallo High School as part of the Youth Leadership Development Program. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students in the program. If you are interested, stop by
the counseling office for more information.
