MHS Summer School 2023

Details

·  Dates: June 5th through June 16th

·  Location: Montevallo High School

·  Times: 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, Monday through Friday

·  Cost: Free of charge

·  Students can make up as many credits as time permits

The Shelby County Schools Student Code of Conduct will apply for summer school sessions. For any questions regarding the Code of Conduct, please refer to the Shelby County Schools website to view a copy. 

As we bring this school year to a close, we remain committed to providing every opportunity for our students to be successful and highly recommend and encourage all of our students who are eligible for summer school classes to take advantage of the opportunity. Complete the linked form below if you intend for your student to attend summer school for credit recovery at Montevallo High from June 5th through the 16th, 8:00am to 12:00pm. This is only open for students who have failed a course and need to recover credit. If you are unsure if your student will need to attend, you can contact Mr. Reed at jreed@shelbyed.org with additional questions.

• All peer helper applications need to be completed and turned in to Mrs. House by 3 pm today.
• There will be a cross-country parent meeting tonight at 6pm in the PAC. Please see Mrs. House with any questions.

• MHS Class of 2023 Graduation Ceremony will be held at the University of Montevallo’s McChesney Center on May 22, 2023 at 7PM.

Reminders…
Outside food (Jack’s, Mcdonald’s, Taco Bell, etc.) is not allowed on campus. Furthermore, food transported by any delivery/takeout service, such as DoorDash or GrubHub will be immediately discarded due to safety concerns. In addition, there will not be a reimbursement for the meal. A family member may bring a meal to the school’s main office for unusual instances where the student forgot it at home. Prior to lunch, the office staff will call the student to retrieve the meal. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Anyone interested in running may pick up a representative OR a student body officer application from outside Ms. Pastor’s room beginning 5th period today. Completed applications are due to Ms. Pastor by the end of 5th period Thursday, May 11th.
Only Seniors with SGA experience may run for President, and any grade level with SGA experience may run for Vice President. Anyone can run for other student body positions and grade-level representatives. All candidates running for student body offices will be required to tape a speech with broadcast to be shown prior to the election.

• This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. All students and parents are invited to show extra gratitude to teachers and staff.
• Students interested in participating in the peer helper program next year need to see Mrs. House for an application.
• There will be a parent meeting on May 16th at 6 pm in the MHS PAC for anyone interested in running cross-country next year. Please see Mrs. House with any questions.
• Girls Basketball Tryouts will be Tuesday May 9th and Wednesday May 10th from 3:30 to 5:00. There are sign-up sheets in Coach Smith and Coach Holt’s rooms for anyone who hasn’t signed up yet.
• The MHS Powder Puff Football has been cancelled.
• MHS Class of 2023 Graduation Ceremony will be held at the University of Montevallo’s McChesney Center on May 22, 2023 at 7PM.

• Girls Basketball Tryouts will be Tuesday May 9th and Wednesday May 10th from 3:30 to 5:00. There are sign-up sheets in Coach Smith and Coach Holt’s rooms for anyone who hasn’t signed up yet.
• There will be a FTA meeting in Mrs. Parker’s room tomorrow during B Lunch.
• The MHS Powder Puff Football is scheduled for May the 11th at 5:30pm at the football field! Students’ interested need to pick up the waiver and pay $5 to their grade level sponsor. You will not be eligible to play until you have paid and turned in your waiver. Boys will still have to pay $5 to coach or “cheer.”
• MHS Class of 2023 Graduation Ceremony will be held at the University of Montevallo’s McChesney Center on May 22, 2023 at 7PM.

Notes from the Montevallo High School Nurse:Please remember to pick up any student medications you have at the school by May 24, 2023. Any medications left past this date will be destroyed per school medication policy. If you have any questions or need any assistance please don’t hesitate to call Nurse Thomas at (205) 682-6433. *All chromebooks, chargers & cases must be turned in to the library before you leave for the summer.

 Chromebook & charger checks & cleaning will be done in math classes.

You can turn them into the library as soon as you are finished with them.

*Chargers must be wrapped up leaving the battery pack open so names can be read and placed in the front zipper of your case.

*A form will be provided on the table as you enter the library to mark if anything is missing or if your chromebook needs repair.

*YOU MUST TURN IN YOUR OWN CHROMEBOOK! DO NOT ASK A FRIEND TO DO IT.
