MHS News 3/2/2017

*TOMORROW we will be on a morning activity schedule. Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. will be speaking to our students Friday morning. This is an important school assembly that allows us to commemorate Black History Month with a nationally important civil rights figure.

*There will be a Students Institute Field Trip on Friday . Students who cannot go need to see Mrs. Pastor sometime prior to Friday to let her know. Dress in MHS attire and lunch will be provided as usual.

*Marching Troubadours Auxiliary Try-outs – March 3rd thru the 10th. See Mrs. Cabrera or Mr. Rogers for details.

*FREE ACT Math Study Session to Juniors on Saturday, March 11th, 9-12. Sign up with Mrs. Cabrera. The Montevallo Sister City Commission is looking for student travelers. The MSCC is organizing a trip to our sister city Echizen Town, Japan around July 1 until July 10, 2017. (Dates may change) If your family is interested in sending a student age 13-16, please email MontevalloSisterCity@gmail.com to receive an application or ask questions. Applications are due FRIDAY.

*Turn in your February community service hours into Mrs. Glover this week.

*Juniors & Seniors: The visit from Alabama A&M University scheduled for today has been cancelled and will be rescheduled.

*Attention Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentors: Ms. Allen will hold a mandatory meeting for all “Bigs” during the senior GPS time on Monday in the PAC. Please report promptly at 11:25.

*If you are interested in trying out for cheerleading for next year, cheerleading clinic will take place March 20-23 and tryouts will be on March 24. Please note that to be eligible for tryouts, you must be present every day of cheerleading clinic. If you are interested or have any questions, pick up a packet from the front office or see Ms. Ward.

I am a alumni of Montevallo High and the University of Montevallo. I have been a teacher at Montevallo Elementary for 10 years, a librarian at Creek View Elementary for 5 years and have been the librarian at Montevallo High School for several years now. It's exciting to be working at the same school I went to many years ago.
