MHS News 1-28-2014

Come out and show your support tonight at the last home basketball game Sr. Night against Oak Mtn. Westminister. All MHS students admitted for only $2.00. Fist game begins at 4:30.

The Montevallo Day of Pageants will be held Saturday, Feb. 8. All entry forms

Anyone interested in trying out for dance line, majorette, or color guard must see
Ms. Britnell for an informational packet before February 18th.
Juniors: The University of Montevallo will host a college fair for all 11th grade students on Feb. 14. Please pick up a permission form from your History teacher and return it by Feb. 11.
Attention young ladies: Prom is just around the corner and it’s time to find a dress. See Ms. Allen if you are looking for an inexpensive alternative as you seek the perfect dress.
Attention 9th and 10th grade girls: Are you interested in architecture, carpentry, welding, or other construction related fields? If so, you may be interested in the “Girls Can Camp” that will be held at the Shelby County College and Career Center this summer. Spaces are limited. Pick up an application from Ms. Allen.

*Congratulations to Kenny Oswald for earning FIRST chair in our regional All-State auditions this past Saturday, making him a member of the 2014 Alabama All-State Band. He will be in the All-State Red Band – which is the top group – at the All-State festival in Huntsville in April. This is a huge accomplishment, and also the second year in a row for Kenny to earn All-State honors. This means he is one of the elite instrumentalists amongst high school band students in the state.
*The golf team will have a short meeting tomorrow right after 8th period. Please,
bring your spirit pack order forms, filled out, with you.

* Tomorrow will be picture make-up for any student in grades 9, 10, and 11 who DID NOT have theirs made 1st semester.
These are the pictures that will go in the yearbook, so please be sure to get yours made if you haven’t already. This is
ONLY for students who have not had a picture taken.

There will be an “Above the Influence” meeting in the band room this Thursday morning from 7:15 – 7:40 A.M.
“Above the Influence” is a program where students will be empowered to make a difference within their community,
school, and families. The students involved in the program will participate in two community service projects.
If you are interested in being a part of this program and making a positive difference in your school and
community, please attend our first meeting this Thursday morning. All students are welcome to attend.

Students who take the ASVAB are NOT obligated to the military, but will receive a very insightful score report and access to a career exploration tool. Interested students should sign up with Ms. Allen by Jan. 16.
* We will have a make-up picture day on Wednesday for any student in grades 9, 10, and 11 who DID NOT have theirs made 1st semester.
