*Support FBLA during the March of Dimes fundraiser by purchasing a short or long sleeve t-shirt. Shirts will be on sale through Nov. 1 $10.00 short sleeve $ 12.00 long sleeve Shirts can be purchased in Mrs. Nunn’s room.

*ACT study session for seniors Sunday, October 18th from 2:00 – 4:00 in Mrs. Cabrera’s Room. Sign-Up in Mrs. Cabrera’s room or with Mrs. Allen in the counselor’s office. Students should bring your calculator that you are planning on using during the ACT.

*Sophomores: A counselor from the Shelby County College and Career Center will conduct a brief presentation for interested students during 7th period in the PAC on Friday. Come hear about the career and technical programs that are available to you.

*Juniors and Seniors: Do you have a minimum 3.0 GPA and 20 ACT? If so, did you know that Berea College can offer you a tuition-free education? Interested students who meet these criteria should see Ms. Allen for an opportunity to have an exclusive meeting with a Berea representative tomorrow

Students,                                                                                                        Want pizza? Want to increase your chances for a scholarship or prizes? Get your “Give Me 5” hours turned in to your History teacher for your grade so that you can count your hours for the “We Are Montevallo Community Service Project.” Students with 5 hours or more during the month of October will get to attend a pizza party! (Hours for your grade do not count.) For every 5 hours you complete each month, your name will be placed in a drawing for prizes. Get out there and help YOUR community! If you need ideas for service, see Mrs. Glover or your History teacher. *Students please be reminded that you are not allowed to go to your vehicle during the day without prior permission from the office.

*Blood Drive Friday Oct. 16. You must pre-register tomorrow during lunch…No exceptions! The sign –up schedule will be followed.

*Attention Students Scheduled to Take the PSAT: The PSAT will be administered today in Mrs. Eades classroom. Students will be called shortly after morning announcements so please report promptly. Be reminded that you can bring a calculator, but no cell phones or electronic devices will be allowed in the test room.

*No outside food or drinks are allowed on campus. (this means fast food/restaurant food) Students may still bring a lunch from home

*PTSO meeting Monday night, October 19th at 6:30 in the café

*All members of the wrestling team need to meet in Coach Davidson’s room at the beginning of 7th period. Please bring all ticket stubs and money collected thus far for the fund raiser.

*Congratulations to Trace Irwin, Tamera Fletcher and Daniel Whitson who represented the Montevallo Cross Country team at the Helena Invitational this past Saturday. All three runners beat their personal record for time!

*National Art Honor Society will meet Thursday this week, and Tuesday and Thursday of next week to create art work for Art Stalk. See Mrs. Whitson if you have any questions.

*Are you good at writing poetry or reciting poetry? If so, enter the Poetry Out Loud National Recitation Contest. MHS is looking for the top 4 poetry writers and readers to represent our school at the Regional Contest in Tuscaloosa. To enter, choose a poem from the Poetry Out Loud website, and then read it with expression to Mrs. Hinton or Mrs. Howard. Last day to en-ter is Thursday, October 15th.

*Would you like to see a play – live on stage – with professional actors? Next Monday, October 19th the Alabama Shakespeare Festival will be on our campus performing Comedy of Errors in the PAC from 6th period through 7th period. Tickets are only $6. You may purchase your ticket in the lunchroom on Thursday (October 15th) and Monday the day of the show (October 19th).

This is a show you will not want to miss!

I have been a teacher at Montevallo Elementary for 10 years, a librarian at Creek View Elementary for 5 years and have been the librarian at Montevallo High School for several years now.
