*Any student who is interested in trying out for the 2015-2016 color guard, dance line, or majorette needs to see Mrs. Wayman or Mr. Lawley for an informational packet. All students and parents must attend a meeting on February 26 at 6:00 p.m. in the band room.
*Yearbooks are for sale through March 3, $40. Only 60 books remain to be sold. Get yours today! Purchase senior ads in the yearbook by March 3. Pick up a senior ad form in Ms. Adams’s room, #112. Club pictures will be taken Thursday, Feb. 26
*Seniors: Do you and your parents need help getting your FAFSA completed? If so, MHS will sponsor a FAFSA Help Event on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. in the library. However, you must sign up with Ms. Allen by Feb. 20 if you or your parents intend to participate so that appropriate plans can be made
*Mrs. Hipps is in the lunchroom from 7:15-7:40 to answer your PROM
questions, hand out guest ticket information, and for ticket sales. Juniors
and seniors, plan to “Waltz Under the Blue Moon” on April 18.
*There will be an ACT PREP CLASS offered at Montevallo High School.
Pick up flyers in the guidance office, library, or Mrs. Hipps’ room. The
class begins Thursday night February 23rd from 6-9. The cost is $50.00 which includes two ACT study books.
*Are you a 10th or 11th grade student interested in participating in the Co-op Program next school year? If so, make plans to attend an informational meeting this Friday during 7th period in the li-brary.
*Seniors: Delta Kappa Gamma is seeking to award a $500 grant-in-aid scholarship to a deserving young woman planning to major in education. *Also, the Shelby County Education Association will be awarding a $1000 scholarship to a senior whose parent, guardian, or grandparent is an ac-tive SCEA member. Find applications for these scholarships and others on Ms. Allen’s Scholar-ship Wall. Remember to pick up the Feb. Senior Newsletter too!
*Attention Jrs: MHS is now preparing to select it’s Alabama Girls State and Boys State representa-tives for 2015. Interested students should have a keen interest in civic engagement, government, and leadership. Both programs will be held at the Univ. of Alabama this summer. Interested stu-dents should see Ms. Allen.
*There will be an SGA meeting during 7th period today in Mrs. Pastor’s room
*Juniors, please see Ms. Allen asap if you were not in class yesterday to get your course request forms for 2015-2016.
*Congratulations to Francis Pope for outstanding performances at the Poetry Out Loud state competi-tion held in Montgomery on Monday (President’s Day). She performed two poems exceptionally well from the Anthology category. Also cheers go out to Sam Reece and Emily Tryon. They received rave reviews for their performances in the Original Oratory category. We ARE Montevallo; and we are proud of these students’ accomplishments.
*There will be a football meeting for anyone wanting to play football in 2015 during 7th period today. If you want to play football you must see coach Zow today.

I am a alumni of Montevallo High and the University of Montevallo. I have been a teacher at Montevallo Elementary for 10 years, a librarian at Creek View Elementary for 5 years and have been the librarian at Montevallo High School for several years now. It's exciting to be working at the same school I went to many years ago.
