It’s time to show that MHS has talent! The MHS Choral Department is presenting the MHS Talent Show on the afternoon of April 24th in the PAC. Admission will be $5. Auditions for the talent show will be on April 11th during your GPS Time. Please see or email Mr. Banks for more information. $10 to audition.

Mu Alpha Theta Members are gathering book bags, drawstring bags, small suitcases, and duffle bags. Gently Used, not new for the Alabama Children’s Home to give to children that arrive at the center with nothing to put their belongings into. Also, collecting can food for the Shelby Emergency. Please see any math teacher or Mu Alpha Theta member for more details.

All boys interested in trying out for basketball will have tryouts at the high school on Tuesday, April 18 & Wednesday, April 19, from 3:15-5:00. You will need a current physical . Please see Coach D or Coach Nelson for more information.

AP Students: Please remember that AP fees are due. The final deadline for all fees is April 14.

Seniors: Please remember to give Ms. Allen copies of any scholarship award letters you receive.

Attention Juniors: It is not too late to express your interest in representing MHS at Alabama Girls State and Alabama Boys State. Interested student leaders should see Ms. Allen this week.

Seniors: The Ora Jones Foundation has scholarships available to deserving students that hold a minimum 2.5 GPA. Application information can be found on Ms. Allen’s blog or you can visit orajonesfoundation.org. The deadline is April 30.

Attention Students: Are you gifted in the areas of music, dance, spoken word, or art? If so, you could be a contestant in the High School Talent Hunt sponsored by the Beta Mu Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. The Talent Hunt will be held at MHS on April 29 at 1 p.m. and admission is free! Check Ms. Allen’s blog for contestant registration information.

Attention Juniors and Seniors: A representative from the Univ of North Alabama will be on campus Tues., April 11 during senior GPS in the library. Sign up in the guidance office to find out what UNA has to offer.

Attention rising juniors and seniors: MHS is now taking applications for the 2017-2018 Big Brothers Big Sisters program. We need responsible and compassionate students to serve as mentors for next year’s effort. See Ms. Allen for an application today.

I have been a teacher at Montevallo Elementary for 10 years, a librarian at Creek View Elementary for 5 years and have been the librarian at Montevallo High School for several years now.
