Nine Weeks Benchmark MONDAY, OCT 14th and weekend assignments

We are required to give each class a nine weeks benchmark in all subject areas. We do our best to space the benchmarks out so that the students do not have more than two benchmarks in one day.

With that in mind, the math nine weeks benchmark will be administered on Monday, October 14, 2013. Your child will be given a short study guide that will assist him or her in preparing for the test. Your child will receive the study guide on Thursday of this week. The main components to the exam will be operations involving decimals. Your child will need to know the vocabulary terms listed on the study guide as well as how to apply the skills of adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals in word problems and basic computation problems.

I know that we try to avoid having homework on the weekends, but we cannot afford to skip homework for this upcoming weekend.

Wednesday, October 2nd

We began our Order of Operations unit today in class. Students made a flip book outlining the steps & procedures utilized in solving expressions in the correct order. On Thursday, we will apply the procedures in the flipbook to expressions to find their value.

NO HOMEWORK FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT, OCTOBER 2nd
(and yes 1st and 2nd period folks, I know I assigned you all Skills Practice #1-12, but you can have the option of NOT doing it as we will work on it during class tomorrow as a whole group!)
