Wednesday, September 30th and POWERUPS QUIZ

Students practiced converting mixed numbers to improper fractions today in class. We also practiced converting improper fractions to mixed numbers.  Instructions on the top of each worksheet reinforce these skills taught in class today. We worked several examples in our math notebook to make sure everyone understood the skill.

POWERUPS QUIZ ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2ND !!!!  I have been encouraging students to study their PowerUps from 9-14-2015 until 10-1-2015 in order to prepare for the quiz this Friday!

 

 

Wednesday, Sept 23rd & GOLD TEST!!!!!!!!

GOLD TEST!!!!!!   A gold test will be given this Friday! The skills for this assessment include adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals!

We are working hard in class (and at home!) to perfect our division skills! A short study guide will come home Thursday evening to ensure students know these skills!

 

 

 

 

Tuesday, September 22nd

Dividing decimals by whole numbers was our focus of study today! Students were given very brief notes in their math notebooks. The steps include the following:

1. Bring the decimal point straight up to the quotient line (and that’s all you’ve got to do with the decimal!)

2. Divide as normal.

Many examples were worked together during class to¬†provide practice. Skills Practice “Dividing Decimals by Whole Numbers” was distributed to students. We worked #1-6 together as a whole class to ensure understanding. Problems #7-18 were assigned as homework. Remember to show all work!

P.S. Some of the problems toward the end of the worksheet get pretty long! Persevere and do your best!
