Today we began adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. We learned we cannot add fractions that do not have the same denominator. We have to convert them into fractions that have the SAME denominator. We do this by creating equivalent fractions (show your relationship!!)

The examples we worked today in class are attached. The homework for today is also attached. Remember: show your work!!!!

Tuesday, September 17th

Today we worked on converting mixed numbers back into improper fractions. I have attached the notes and examples for this lesson below.

We also had a mini-lesson on reducing or simplifying fractions. I have included the notes on this topic as well. We will work the rest of the school year on appropriately reducing or simplifying fractions!

Homework was assigned for tonight (see below). The homework covers 2 skills…..#1 converting mixed numbers into improper fractions and #2 converting improper fractions into mixed numbers. We will be checking this for a grade in class on Wednesday.
