Thursday, September 27th and BIG GOLD TEST

Our class learned how to add and subtract fractions that have mixed numbers today! Here are the notes students took down from the board:

We worked 6 problems from the front of the homework and 6 problems from the back of the homework together to ensure that everyone understood the procedures and how to simplify their final answer! So, out of the 24 problems on this homework sheet, 12 of them were done together in class! Hopefully, all students were zoned in to what we were doing and copying everything down that we did together on the board!

Tuesday, September 25th

Adding Fractions with Unlike Denominators was our topic of study today in class! Students took down the steps to converting the fractions into like denominators before adding them! Here’s a glance at the notes we took:

And of course we worked several examples together for everyone to practice! And on their homework sheet, we worked the first few together to ensure accuracy!

Converting Mixed #s and Improper Fractions HW 9-24-2018

Wednesday, September 19th

We are finishing up our study of LCM and GCF today! Students took many notes on these skills (see their math notebook) over the last few days. Tonight’s homework had 20 problems, but I worked 4 problems on each side with them, reducing the number of problems they have to complete on their own down to 12 problems! Additionally, students had a few minutes at the end of class to complete 1 or 2 more before the bell. Hopefully, students will only have a few problems left to complete at home!

Here’s what we worked together in class:

Tuesday, Sept 11th & BIG GOLD TEST

Students were given a study guide today in class to help them prepare for tomorrow’s big gold test! The skills that will be assessed tomorrow include:

adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing decimals

We worked a few problems together as a class to ensure understanding of procedures and accuracy. Students were given ample time to complete the majority of the study guide in class, but whatever was not finished will need to be completed at home tonight as homework (there’s a front AND a back to the study guide!!!).  Remember to use your math notebook if you get stuck……the yellow chart about Decimal Operations will be extremely helpful!
