REVIEW YOUR CORRECTED STUDY GUIDE FOR TOMORROW’S TEST!!!!!
I will take up your study guide for a grade before the test so remember to bring it with you to class!
2 items to note for Tuesday:
#1 Homework for math will consist of our study guide for the test on Thursday! Three pages long, however I spaced out some of the problems to provide students a place to work their answers. Study guides are due tomorrow in class so we can check over answers and correct any mistakes! Study guides need to be accurate to prepare for our test!
#2 We have an activity on Friday that allows students to bring in their personal electronic device (NO SMARTPHONES!!!). Students may only bring devices if they have a BYOD form on file with the school. BYOD forms can only be submitted electronically. To this end, I am sending home the information for parents to log onto the school’s website & register their child’s device. I will have a list of those who have been approved to have their devices in class on Friday.
STUDY GUIDE FOR RATIOS, RATES, UNIT RATES, AND RATIO TABELS TEST
RATIOS, RATES, UNIT RATES & RATIO TABLES Study Guide Jan 2015
Students worked intently again today on understanding and completing Ratio Tables!
We are looking at a big test on Ratios, Rates, Unit Rates, and Ratio Tables this Thursday, January 29th! Study guides will come home Tuesday night for completion. Please make sure your student has at least attempted all the problems on the study guide as we will check answers in class on Wednesday. When the study guide is completed, students are easily able to pinpoint errors in their calculations and in their thinking before the test!
HOMEWORK FOR MONDAY NIGHT, JANUARY 26TH
Ratio Tables Part 2 (front) HW for 1-26-2015
Using Unit Prices (back) HW for 1-26-2015
Students worked very intently on ratio tables today in class! We have one problem for homework over the weekend…..it’s #6 on their classwork sheet from today. The problem gives a scenario of purchasing packs of baseball cards for a specific dollar amount. Students were instructed to construct their own ratio table and solve it to determine the purchase price of the baseball cards. I will take this up on Monday as a grade!
HOMEWORK FOR MONDAY, JANUARY 26TH
Ratio Tables Problem #6 HW for Friday, 1-23-2015
LOOKING AT A BIG TEST ON ALL THINGS RATIO & RATES next Thursday, January 29th!!!!!!
No math homework tonight!
ENJOY!!!!!
Students are continuing to practice determining Rates from a phrase or word problem and then calculating Unit Rates from this information. Unit Rates will ALWAYS have 1 as their denominator!
Students also had practice with scaling today. Scaling is a form of calculating ratios in which you “scale down” to determine a unit rate and then using that ratio to “scale up” to find the rate you are looking for. See your student’s homework tonight, #3 on the front side for an example of scaling!
HOMEWORK FOR WEDNESDAY NIGHT, JANUARY 21ST
Using Unit Prices (front) Finding Ratios Unit Rate (back)
Students are continuing to work with rates & unit rates to determine better deals. Remember to always set up a rate first and then make it equal to a ratio with a denominator of one (Unit Rate).
HOMEWORK FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 20TH
The Best Buy (front) HW for 1-20-2015
No math homework tonight!!
Students began exploring the concept of ratios today in class. A ratio is simply the comparison of two quantities using division. Students set up ratios comparing many different items such as sailboats to fan boats, cars to motorcycles, and trombones to trumpets. Always remember that ratios must be reduced to their simplest form (just like fractions!)
HOMEWORK FOR MONDAY NIGHT, JANUARY 12TH
Skills Practice Ratios HW for 1-12-2015
